Alexandra Robbins and Pledged is Back

Ughhhhh, why now?

Quote:
Several years ago, I went undercover to investigate sororities for my book Pledged: The Secret Life of Sororities. The reaction to exposing these popular, opaque groups was immediate and fierce. Some sorority chapters banned or boycotted the book; some members tried to publicly shame me online. But for years afterward, my inbox was flooded with emotional thank-you notes from sisters and alumnae—so I decided to connect with the current generation of sorority women to update Pledged (the reissue comes out this month). And this new investigation uncovered something chilling: The National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) sorority system does contribute to campus rape culture.

Forgive me if this has been posted I just can't go through all the spam.

She just wrote a book, that also came with a Marie Claire article, about nurse-on-nurse bullying.

She's still, for better or worse, a go-to when journalists need a sound bite on Greek life--so we'll be hearing from her for a while!

Wait, why are they reissuing Pledged?

I guess because she's "updated" it with this new "info" .

As someone with a journalism degree, she is what is wrong with journalism today. She is all about the shock value. I seriously doubt her integrity as far as sources are concerned, she uses pseudonyms and composite characters. I put her "journalism" about on the same level as the "journalism" in Rolling Stone and the Greek sexual assault story from awhile back.

I'm 99% sure she talks about how so many sorority girls are bulimic that the pipes in the house rusted from the purging.

A 6th grader with snopes could figure out that's complete bullshit.

She's not a journalist. A crappy fiction author at best.

I have a journalism degree and the thought that kept going through my mind when I was reading "Pledged" was, "Did anyone actually edit this piece of garbage?"

I wonder if, before the reissue, someone went through the book and changed her reference to the "National Pan Hellenic Conference" to the correct "National Panhellenic Conference"?

Ugh. This woman needs to stop. She hung out with some disgruntled sisters for a few months so she's now an expert? I think anyone in a sorority has gone through a period when they weren't happy. And we're all anorexics or bulimic. Lol my degree is also in journalism and she's an embarrassment.
