My best friend tried to kill herself today

She's the one who's bi-polar-I've talked about her here before. She drove out to a deserted part of the beach and took 150 pills. It took us 3 hours to find her because we didn't know where she went. She's in the ER right now-luckily we found her in time. Ya'll, I am just in shock. I don't know what to do... I'm not even sure why I'm posting this here. Maybe just to get it off my chest. She tried this once before, about a year ago. But she was doing so well for the past 6 months, and this is such a shock. I don't know. I'm sorry-like I said, I don't really know why I'm posting this here.

Hey honey...There's really nothing I can say to try to comfort you, but I can say is that I've been in a similar situation and it sucks. You just have to believe in your heart that she will get help and will be better, no matter what it takes - - just support her in any way that you can!!! Keep up updated on how she's doing...

I am sorry to hear about that. I hope se is ok and gets help. Its ok to talk about it because talking about stuff that hurts eventually makes you feel bette quicker.

I'm sorry. Feel free to give her my email-- I too have often felt that life isn't worth living, but have never doen what she has done. You are an amazing friend to go in search of her for three hours. You didn't do anything wrong as a friend so don't think for a second that if only you were a better friend this wouldn't have happened.

It is incredibly unfortunate, but I am glad that she was found in time and I hope she will get well soon. I hope you will feel better too.

Jenn, I'm so sorry about your friend. I hope that she is able to get the help that she so desperately needs. She's so fortunate to have a devoted friend like you. You went above and beyond the normal bounds of friendship. Take care of yourself.

You are such a wonderful friend for driving around 3 hours to find her.

I'm praying for a speedy recovery on your friend's part, both physically and mentally. She is so lucky to have a friend like you!

Hey guys-
First, I just want to thank everyone so much for all the encouragment and kind words-they help so much. Here's what's going on so far-she was moved from the Medical ICU onto a Med-Surg floor. They're concerned about her potassium level, which can be bad, because potassium can mess with your heart. The psych MD wanted her to go into the psych hospital down here, but she initially refused. Then her family talked to her, and she agreed to go. So, I think she's going to be taken over there today. I talked to her last night on the phone, and she was laughing and talking as though nothing ever happened. Which kind of worried me, because about 3 days after she did this the first time, she acted like nothing ever happened. And she said something like, Ya, I sure don't want to do this again-meaning try to kill herself...but thats what she said after the first time she did this. So, I don't know what's going on. I was supposed to go visit her last night, but on top of everything I'm sick and I have a midterm on Monday, so I couldn't.

Anyhoo, I just want to say thanks again, to all for the support. It really means so much-you guys will never know.

I've been in your shoes and I know exactly how you're feeling right now.

It's hard to see someone that you care about going through such a terrible time, and it's even more difficult when you don't understand why they do the things that they do. Makes you feel rather helpless, doesn't it?

Please know that I'm thinking about you and your friend and hoping that things turn out alright. Your friend has a long road ahead of her, and she's lucky that she has you.
