Founders' desendents
Since most of the GLOs founders are deseased, and the question of founders have been raised on these boards. Does anyone know if any living desendents of the founders' GLOs are in their respective GLOs? Are some decendents in other GLOs? Lisa

I remember reading in the Alpha Gamma Delta New Member manual that Grace Mosher Harter's daughter and granddaugher are AGDs also. Margaret Harter Sanders and Susan Dee Sanders were initiated at the 1964 Convention.

Sandy, Thank you. It has been a very long time since I have seen an AGD New Member manual. I had forgotten all about that. I think that having living decendents in their respective GLOs is extremely unique and interesting. What about other GLOs?

To the best of my knowledge, the answer for Delt is no. However, we did have three generations of Delts from the same family who served as International President of the Fraternity.

Phi Mu
One of our founders great-great granddaughters (I think that's the right designation) was just initiated into Phi Mu at the University of Florida last year. I don't know of any other descendant's relatives currently active with the sorority.

I'm not sure about founders, but....
The writer of our ritual, Stephen Alonzo Jackson, had a relative inititated a few years back. He wasn't a founder, but he completely revised and re-wrote our ritual, and his descendent being initiated was still a big deal.

very strong legacy
One of our Founders, Vashti Turley Muphy, has 10 descendants (including 4 of her 5 daughters) that are Deltas. The most recent addition to her Delta legacy was initiated this past fall at Xavier.

Hee hee..our founders are still alive! Our local is only 6 years old and our founders don't have any kids yet, so no founder's decendants yet!
I just wanted to part of the thread......

Phi Kap descendants
One of Phi Kap's 7 founding fathers was Alfred Victor du Pont, who had ancestors go on to found du Pont Chemical.)
Anyways, from what I understand, Phi Kappa Sigma (specifically, the Alpha chapter at University of Pennsylvania) has initiated nearly all of his male lineage. One of the few we haven't initiated, oddly enough, is John du Pont, the one that was accused of killing Olympic wrestler Dave Schultz a few years back.
Currently, David du Pont is also one of our national officers.. I can't tell you how exciting it was to shake hands with a bloodline relative of one of our founders.

Re: very strong legacy
Soror, I think it would be interesting to point out that the Murphy family has 4 generations of Deltas.
