Lightbulb Weird Question: Sororities and Exotic Dancing

I really want to rush this fall. I also happen to be an exotic dancer. I love my job and it definitely helps pay for my college expenses, but I'm fully aware that my profession is looked down on by the majority of people. I know it's seen as dirty and not very classy. If I were to rush and be initiated into a sorority would they kick me out because of my job?
I'm sure it would affect my potential bids at rush if they knew before hand, but I don't want to spend the money or time on rush if the organization itself will have to kick me out.
Thanks for your help ladies!

Unfortunately, we still live in a society where you are going to be slut-shamed regularly for being a dancer, and sororities are no different (in fact, if anything, they skew conservative). It is very likely your pledging could be terminated when they find this out.

Well, this is certainly a different kind of question.... QFP

I think you are really putting the cart in front of the horse to ask about being kicked out AFTER initiation. The question should be "Do I have any chance whatsoever of being extended a bid?"

I guess I would bring it up during rush, not first round because you don't want to give them too easy a reason to cut you and not preference because they might feel tricked. But I guess this is information they should know and let them decide. There are a lot of assumptions about this I would have made while in college (primarily drugs and prostitution) that will probably need to be addressed at the same time. Reputations are precious and fragile so you need to try to persuade them you won't do damage to theirs. Good luck.

The problem isn't so much the chapter per se as the fraternity boys (and I use that term on purpose) who will be coming to see you perform and talking about it all over campus. One of the members of a chapter I advised went to work doing this (6 ft tall blonde who was on the band's dance line - knock dead gorgeous). The fraternity guys were totally off the board about it. All events like birthday parties, pinning parties, ended up at the strip club because SHE worked there. It was awful. She left school. You are welcome to do what you want but just keep in mind the ramifications not only to yourself but those around you.

If you live and dance in California and are going to school in New York, you might be able to swing it. MAYBE.

But seeing as this is the internet age, probably not.

It is 30 years later, and people from my high school are STILL talking about a cheerleader who got a job at the Dollhouse (yes, just like the Motley Crue song). And we didn't have the modern conveniences of t witter n' such to find out about it.
