UMgirl= recent college grad who is techincally unemployed (I dont count my current jobs as being fully employed )
= Thinks it would be a great opportunity (would look good on a resume as an entry level position)
= has a lot of freakin customer service skills, since those are most of the jobs ive worked
= probably doesnt pay much, but hey its way more then i make now
do i really need to think about this......lol

That's probably an understatement! Most positions at most GLO's don't pay well

Hey , as long as i see a 2 followed by 4 zeros, im happy. In a bad economy thats not exactly hiring soc majors, you take what you can get :-) Even 19, 000 will do

Lets Talk About The Economy.....
Ha! It better get better wayyy before Dec., like when my student loans really start to kick in (March and April would be fine).
Ive put in over 20 resumes for ads Ive seen in the paper, and who knows how many over the internet. Most of the ads for anything I have noticed want you to have an AAS (so they dont have to pay you squat) or a Masters degree. What happened to the days when a BA or BS was good enough? At first I thought it was only me, but then i heard from friends and other people....its everywhere. Your lucky if you even get a phone call for an interview. I also went to staffing/temp places and the woman told me all the agencies in the area have been really slow. No one is hiring. But nina if your if your in the B-school I dont think you have anything to worry about. It seems that the jobs that are available are in the fields of finance, sales, IT, and social work (group homes). Even the kids who have education degrees are hvaing it tough in my area. Most are only subbing if they can get that. phone havent been ringing off the hook (one girl is even working at Wendy's part-time for the time being). However, Extra did a thing on the economy and said it should be in decent shape and people should be hiring by summer. Most realize they laid off too many people or need more. So there is some hope!

What did you originally want to do with your sociology degree?
I chose the BBA route because it's a broad practical degree. A far cry from my first year at music school! What the crap was I supposed to do with a BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts)?

Long story made short. The intent has always been to go to law school, and always will be until i get letters saying no of them want me
I went in as a Poli Sci major. Love politics and the law. But the way it was going and how the kids acted was just to much for me. I mean I can be competitive with the best of them, but when you start making people feel dumb to make yourself look good, I just lost interest in it (sometimes, even though i would have strangled half of them, I wish I had stayed). So then I thought...hmm sociology seems like it would be an cool major. I like looking into society and people for reasons. So I changed majors plus i didnt need that many credits for my degree. (this is late in my junior year). Well... found out soc was a lil boring but interesting and I ASSUMED (duh! should have known) since it was a big major at UM and emphasized for many other majors that id be able to get a decent job with it...... I WAS LIED TOO!. its pretty much useless unless you get a Masters and even sometimes a PhD. However, If I dont get into law school (crosses fingers) I have a back up to go to grad for Public Policy/ Administration, so the soc might come in handy then Normal college doopher!

Thanks for the support. Im applying and if i dont get it oh well, but at least I wont be thinking what if, ya know. And its something to start with as I said before. I can always come back home after 3-4 years too.
My thing is I know IHQ has living quarters, but can anyone live there or is it just for the LA/LC positions?

I think many majors these day require additional studies after graduation with a Bachelor's. Most of the fine arts (unless your going to be a performer), liberal arts-- unless of course you work outside your major field.
Did you go through the LSAT's yet?
I plan on getting an MBA but unfortunately most programs require a few years of work experience before you can get accepted.
I thought of Poli Sci because I loved studying court cases!
I thought of Computer Science cause I have a pretty good nack at the computer.
But alas, I am a marketing major lol.

I think the position of Chapter Services Rep is a "regular position"-- therefore you'd have to get living quarters on your own.
