Both parents in Iraq at the same time???

Should BOTH parents to leave their child(ren) in order to fight in the war at the same time? Did the father in the story below make the right decision.

Your thoughts????????

Destiny Washburn is just shy of her first birthday, a big year for baby.

KAKE News first introduced you to the Washburns last year.

Nicole had little Destiny while her husband Rick was fighting in the war.

He came home just six months ago.

But just as they've settled in as a family, once again their world turns upside down.

Nicole says, "I had her in my arms and I just freaked out. I just started crying."

That's because Nicole is also a soldier and five days ago she got the call. She leaves in the morning.

Nicole should get pregnant again. If I were in the military right now, I'd stay pregnant. They wouldn't send me anywhere!

What exactly can he do to take care of her in Iraq? I know he means well but if he's sent to the front lines he can't do anything for her at the base. One of them should stay home, it's not fair to that child that she may potentially lose both her parents this way.

Maybe I need to re-read the story but, did the father have to go? It seemed as if, he DECIDED to go- like he had a choice. What's up with that?

He came back off his tour if I read it right and instead of staying home with his child he OPTED to go back with his wife. Now this brings up something we talked about (my and my girls) several years ago. Do you think he did this cause he may be thinking it would be harder to live without her whereas mom (forced to go) while missing dad wanted to stay with her baby.

Yeah, I don't understand his rationale, especially if he can't go in his wife's place; all he's really doing is risking making their child an orphan.

I don't think that any MOM would opt to go if they didn't have to. Maybe he just wants his daughter to grow up and think that he is some kind of hero for voluntarily abandoning her to go risk his life over some bs.

I think that one of them should not go to war. To me it seems akin to being able to choose not to go when you are the last of your parent's kids (I think that that's the way that it goes). Kind of like the movie "Saving Private Ryan."

If both are killed, then what?

One should stay. It actually seems kind of irresponsible on the part of the parent's for neither to stay.

The husband should have stayed his behind here. As someone stated earlier, he can't protect his wife during a war.
