Why are we "Greek"??
I was just curious, I dont think I have ever heard anyone explain, or ask this. Why are we refered to as "Greeks"??

I think its because we use greek letters. And I guess its easier to say than, "people in fraternities and sororities." Ya know...the greeks.

Beef, sorry about that!!! Yes we are known as Greeks because of the designationts that know one understands! Well unless you have been through the Ritual of respective Greeks!
What it basicaly means is most of the others do not Know! We Know what it means to be there!!!!!!

And, I think the reason the original founders of Phi Beta Kappa, our first Greek Letter Organization, and others used Greek Letters is that Greece was considered the center of learning and knowledge in it's golden era.
Many of our early universities taught (in) Greek and much of the curriculum of the day was the study of the Greek philosophers.
At least some of our rituals were originally written in Greek.
That must have been amazing since, after all these years, I can hardly remember the Greek Alphabet!
Reminds me of a very old joke I heard in my early youth...
"What was the outstanding accomplishment of the Romans?
.....They understood Latin."
Maybe the same could be said of the Greeks.
