Alpha Kappa Alpha city chapter

Hi All!

I attend a university with out a chartered chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha, but it is listed under the city chapter! The down side? There are no members at my school for me to get to know very well. I've attended events, I know most of the members/ a few things about each (major, school, classification, etc.) and they know my name/ a few things about me. My problem is, I don't know how rush is going to work out.

As a freshman, I kept up with events and kept an eye out for rush, but never saw a sign with a date/ place. I'm a little anxious for this year, my sophomore year, because I'm concerned that only those who are invited can attend rush AND as I'm completing the things I can for my rush packet, I'm not sure if I should have the General Information for the Collegian Brochure before rush or if it will be given out at rush.

I think I have some great qualities to bring to the chapter. I have a 3.6 gpa, and have extensive community service hours, and multiple leadership positions, but I realize not everyone is chosen and that sometimes things just don't work out. So my biggest questions are: how can I make sure that I don't miss rush with out stepping on members' toes and would it be inappropriate to email the graduate advisor about rush and the brochure? I don't mean any disrespect in these questions. Please correct me if I'm crossing a boundary.
