Question Special Edition Relationship Question

Would you ever marry an athlete? Based on what we read/hear/see, could you marry an athete and face all of the scrutiny into your personal lives and possible infidelity on your spouse's part.

I don't know who has read HomeCourt Advantage by Rita Ewing and _________ McCrary but it is about the life of the Knicks and their wives -- check it out if you have not read it.

I was just talking about this last night (after hearing about MJ's divorce). I would never begin a relationship with someone who was a professional athlete. I don't think that I would want to deal with all of the scrutiny and all of the women throwing themselves at my man. Even if he was faithful, I would always be questioning that somewhere in the back (or maybe even front) of my mind. That's just something that I wouldn't want to have to deal with.

Classylady I agree. For a minute I had to make sure I wouldn't be in this type of relationship based on some kind of insecurity. After some consideration I realized that I wouldn't want the extra set of problems. Marriage is hard enough as it is but adding the fame and fortune I couldn't imagine wanting to live that way. I also don't like long distance relationships and not being able to see my man when I want to see him. With that being said. I wouldn't do it.

honey nooooo

i won't even date these knuckle-headed college athletes. there is an arrogance about athletes that i don't care for. they thank they sh!& don't stank! and it is tooooo much infidelity plagueing professional sports that totally turns me off to the notion of dating an athlete. my sister dated a football player on his way to the big leagues (an injury put that chile out of action after about 2 years in the nfl) and you wanna talk about baby momma drama??!! boy had children in so many different area codes (and, some cities have more than one area code ). the thought makes, to borrow a phrase, my nether regions itch...

i've dated a pro athlete and have heard more groupie (male abd female) stories than i care to recall. in my humble opinion, it's just about unrealistic for the partner of that athlete to expect him/her to be faithful. maybe i'm making excuses, but they're put in too many situations where sex and anything else is readily available. w/all that being said, i don't think i'd seriously date another pro athlete. instead, i'd like for us to be cool and hang out as friends, w/absolutely no sex involved.
