NCIS and Navy JAG crossovers
For fans of NCIS and Navy JAG, I offer a couple of thoughts on the next couple of years of NCIS. With Admiral Chegwidden appearing to represent Gibbs and 'spoiler' suggestions that there will be other guest appearances it seems as though it might be time to bring in the principal JAG characters for occasional but recurring roles in NCIS.
Considering normal promotion times for Navy and Marine senior officers both Harm and Mac would have made Rear Admiral (lower half) and Brigadier General respectively 3 or 4 years ago. The consternation regarding which would retire and which would remain would be easily remedied by the simple fact that the NAVEUR command staff called for a JAG Captain as chief lawyer and a Marine Colonel as sr. Marine Liaison on the staff manning table. There was a job for each and one phone call to HQMC to arrange Mac's assignment. Three years in the jobs and both would likely be selected for promotion. Normal progression from there would be for Harm to go to Commander, US Forces Europe Staff as the JAGEUR and for Mac to go to MARFOREUR as either Chief of MARFOREURJAG or as Chief of Staff, MARFOREUR. (They would then be located about 5 miles from each other) Upon successful completion of those assignments Harm would make Rear Adm (upper half) which equates to two star rank and Mac to Major General (also two star rank). This brings them back to Washington where Harm assumes the job of Judge Advocate General of the Navy, A.J. Chegwidden's old job. Mac would then be in position to be assigned as Assistant Chief of Staff and Senior Legal Advisor on the Joint Staff working for the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Bud would be a Captain by then as Senior JAG at Fleet Forces Command and Mikey would be a new LCDR on the CNO's staff.
This way the back story would be plausable in 'real life' and the actors could make guest appearances from time to time in NCIS.
Any thoughts?
