Pikes at Michigan display complete lack of class and more

I'd love to be a fly on the wall at their national HQs, especially the executive board members and national staff who were military as well.

How stupid can people be?

And as a Spartan, I'll do my best to refrain from making excessive Michigan comments.

What losers.

I had seen the picture, but didn't know what chapter. I'm interested in seeing how this ends up playing out.

So supremely stupid and embarrassing in so many ways.

And those boys need to study their history -- LSD was first synthesized in Switzerland, and condoms (as we know them) were first made in Italy.

Oh my. That email... I'm sure their HQ is thrilled.

I was especially struck by this line:

"We exercise our 4th amendment right to drink beer through any orifice we want."

Wow, and it comes just few months after the now-no longer Pikes at Tennessee went viral for butt-chugging wine.

Yes, their Nationals must be loving this fine representation of their fraternity. SMH.

Yikes. Somehow I missed that gem.

I know Pike HQ must be less than pleased, to put it mildly. But if my son pulled something like this, HQ would not be what he'd need to worry about most.

Wait, wait, wait, didn't we just have a thread about how white people wouldn't be outraged if someone threw this type of party? There's nothing to see here, carry on.

Yeah, this has already made the rounds. As far back as I remember (almost 9 years ago...am I that old?) this chapter has not been terribly well-liked around campus. I never personally had a problem with them and enjoyed the couple of times I stopped by, but yeah, this is ridiculous.

Personally, I find it tasteless but not offensive. I think a toned-down version of the email/picture could have been pretty funny.

Most of the email is pretty hysterical, I thought...obviously I object to "whores" and things of that nature, but there are parts that are legitimate political satire.

I'm a little unsure of their intent. If this was some sort of attempt at fratire, it could possibly be well played and high fives could even be in order for getting the general public worked up about nothing..

If this is truly reflective of their internal culture, they ought to be shut down right now.

On a side note, I'm aware that Pike is a flat-fee insurance fraternity. In other words, whether you're a 25 man chapter or a 200 man chapter, every chapter pays the same flat $15,000 or whatever in annual liability insurance regardless of track record or individualized risk or chapter size or anything.

Perhaps the lack of any financial incentive to, for example, maintain alcohol free housing or be able to get rid of members who pose a safety concern isn't really doing these groups any favors?

I'd really be interested to see whether these flat fee groups have a higher claims rate than other groups.

Why? I'm really curious as to what you see here that is a shut down-able offense.
