Ooh, I am glad that it is coming early! We are thinking of getting one for our daughter. She enjoyed using a regular IPad last spring during her internship-the school district where she interned provides them for their teachers. Although she loves the school where she is teaching, that school district does not provide them, but her principal suggested that she get one.....yeah right. First year teacher with student loans should plunk down $500-700 because the principal thinks daughter would benefit.

I anxiously await your opinion. Any other opinions will be appreciated.

It has the same resolution as an iPad 2 which I already own, but it is tiny. It is super thin and light, which I love. My husband thinks it's dumb since it doesn't have retina display, but for what I use it for, I don't need it. I'm also getting a new MacBook Pro with retina display. My old one is five years old. Still a great computer soft wear wise, but it's starting to make a clicking sound which means the fans about to go out. It was the best laptop I ever owned.

I really want one too, but I'm being advised by my friend, who is a geek for all things Apple, to wait.

Probably bc they'll make one next year with retina display. It's too thin right now for that.

I know it's not just me, because I have heard others say the same thing, but I really can't tell a difference between the display on my iPad2 and the retina display. Do others see any real difference?

I think it's only visible to members of the Junior League.

( it was just too big an opening )

I have the iphone5 with retina and can tell a huge difference on the screen. That being said, I couldn't care less. Once you get to a certain resolution for a task, anymore is overkill.

Too small for my eyesight! Will stick with my original iPad, which I love.

Well that would explain it, but Junior League where? Somewhere they'll let anyone in or somewhere that getting into the Junior League is as competative as getting into a Top Tier chapter at an SEC school?

Have any of y'all considered a Windows Surface? All of my computers are PCs except for my iPhone 5, which I really like. MysticCat, I'm particularly thinking of using it for lawyer-related stuff and am particularly interested in the surface because of its lightweight keypad. One of the hardest things for me to do is keep in contact with all of my clients and to show up where I'm supposed to be when I'm supposed to be there with all of the information I need to be effective. I'm wondering whether anyone has input on what devices would be helpful there.

Kevin, do you have a Windows Surface?

My daughter has a pc but she has an Iphone. Would there be an advantage to staying with an Apple product?

No experience with Windows Surfaces, but my work email/calendar is Outlook, and through Outlook Exchange it works fine with the calendar on my iPad.

You can get keypad covers/cases for the iPad, though when I use a separate keyboard, its the Apple blue tooth one.

Ditto for my iPad and my iPhone. I also like that much of the information syncs between the two devices, such as my contacts. As an example I don't have to maintain multiple contact lists. Since you use an iPhone that may be something to consider.

Just a guess, but I think I'd find the iPad less productive if I didn't have an iPhone. It'd still be a great iPad, it just wouldn't be quite as convenient as it is having two devices that can play nicely with one another.
