shopping: please stop me!!

Have you seen these diamond zodiac necklaces?

http://www.neimanmarcus.com/store/ca...navAction=jump

Ohhh, they are gorgeous and I really want one, but why must they be so darn expensive?

Have you all splurged on anything lately? If so, what was it? Tell me your shopping stories so maybe I can live vicariously through you and stop myself from spending more money I don't have!!

Valkyrie, what a fun thread!!

I haven't done a major splurge recently, but I'm DYING for the new Burburry plaid tote ... I think its around $370, which I keep repeating "isn't too bad" in my head. I mean, I could carry it for many seasons, right?! RIGHT?! I'm dying to have it. DYING!

Any Rockefellers out there? Vanderbilts?

XOXO,
Annie.

My cousin works at Structure so he hooks me up with discounts. Lots of business attire for me this year. Gotta dress pimp. No more street gear for me.

I disagree... if you really want the necklace and can afford it, buy it! Unlike clothes (which wear out or go out of style), nice jewelry lasts forever.

And, if you can't afford it... check out cheaper department stores and you can probably find a CZ knockoff that looks like it.

The last thing I splurged on was my tattoo. It'll last forever.

I'd wait 2 weeks and see if you still want the necklace. Then, if you do, go find a CZ knockoff.

I splurged on a $300 Coach purse and a $200 wallet to match it. I felt guilty after I bought it but oh well ! I love the purse !

Okay, well, I had been looking for knockoff zodiac necklaces and couldn't find any, but tonight my dedication and hard work finally paid off and I found them!

http://shop.store.yahoo.com/tpa/horzodcznecc.html

Of course, they're not quite as cool as the real ones, but I think they will do.

As for my latest splurge -- Kate Spade anyone? I am now the proud owner of a Noel trenchcoat sam and a Chloe in cranberry. Like I told the woman at Neiman Marcus, I am NEVER SHOPPING AGAIN. I just wish that I could leave all my handbags alone in a room and have them reproduce.

Congrats on your purchases!

I'm not a huge fan of the Kate Spade purses for myself, although I think they're great for other girls! I tend to like purses that a bit more whimsical, such as Isabella Fiore's.

HOWEVER, I LOVE Kate Spade's planners! I buy a new one every year... they're so great! The one for 2003 that I recently got is in the cranberry colour.

XOXO,
Annie.

UCLA Girl,

I am now on a hunt

As for my recent splurge...I bought a mauve pink suede pants suit from Arden B! It was on sale. I couldn't resist. Low cut jacket with 3 hidden hooks with boot cut pants slit in the back with ties.

I found the perfect pink and brown camisole to wear underneath and now I'm on the hunt for someo nice boots!

For a great purse designer, check out Anya Hindmarch... she is British Kate Spade! Her purses range from whimsical photographic styles to classic leather bags...

Damn. Within the last six months, I've acquired five Kate Spade purses through various discounted means. I don't buy retail.
In March, I got a green Palm Beach linen Sam at Nordstrom Rack. In June, I found a Liza (a 2000 canvas utility tote) that had been returned to Bloomingdale's. I paid less than $40 for it.
Then, I got a pink pique Carol from my discount place in Costa Mesa, a wisteria nylon Fe from Nordstrom Rack and the most recent addition was a GIFT -- a KS for Lilly Pulitzer giant bag with pink and green in the pattern. Some of those bags have sold on eBay for $400.

Steeltrap, do you want to be my personal shopper? I am absolutely terrible at finding bargains. Terrible.

And Annie, I have to say that I hate you!! I'm kidding of course -- I wasn't really familiar with Isabella Fiore, so I checked out some of the selections at neimanmarcus.com. They are the most amazing, beautiful things I have ever seen in my life. My next purchase is going to be:

So you know how I said I was never shopping again? Well, I meant starting after I bought this cute little number from Lulu Guinness:

LOL, I may consider personal shopping as a side career. I've had to balance champagne taste with a beer budget, to use a cliche. For instance, I've also scored two pairs of JP Tod's driving shoes, and paid less than $100 in both cases.

Today, after payday, I have to scoot to an Off Fifth and pick up two sleeveless pink cashmere turtlenecks for one of my line sisters (for those unfamiliar with NPHC terminology, that's an equivalent of a pledge classmate) and I. These turtlenecks retailed at Saks for $298, were reduced to $84 and are selling at 70 percent off the $84.
