The Chapman Recruitment Diaries
Hey there, Greek Chat! After reading countless other recruitment stories, I decided to publish my own. I will be participating in sorority recruitment at Chapman University over the next few weeks. I say weeks because I thought I could include some thoughts on the sororities' tables, open house, and recruitment orientation as well as the three days we have of formal recruitment.
I am the first in my family to go Greek, so this is a totally new experience for me!
The sororities on campus are ~
Kappa Alpha Theta
Delta Gamma
Gamma Phi Beta
Alpha Phi
Alpha Gamma Delta
Phi Sigma Sigma
Delta Delta Delta
Because I've been re-watching The Vampire Diaries lately, I've decided to code name each sorority with a name of one of the characters. (In no particular order)
So we have ~
Elena
Damon
Katherine
Caroline
Stefan
Rebekah
Bonnie
I look forward to updating soon! But for now I'm just focusing on finding the perfect pumps So excited/nervous!

Good Luck. A girl in my graduate program was/is a Phi Sig from Chapman. A former cheerleader of mine is an Alpha Phi (at a different school). And a super good friend of mine is an AGD. All great houses.

Recruitment goes from Sept 7-9! This coming week, however, the sororities have tables set up for a few hours each day and there's an open house on Thursday.

Sounds great! I went to high school in Orange County, so a lot of people go on to Chapman from there. It's such a fun school with an amazing Greek community! Surely you're going to love it there! We don't have houses at my school either, but I think you'll find once you fall in love with your chapter, it hardly matters! Best of luck to you! I'll definitely be checking back

I knew an AGD at Chapman! She LOVED it! She's an alumna, but still has so much AGD pride (especially on her Facebook!)

Open House
I attended the sororities' Open House event tonight. The event was optional, but I'm so glad I decided to attend!
I feel even more confident about my decision to go Greek this year, and talking with all of the women has made me much less nervous for Recruitment next weekend.
The event was conducted 'speed-dating' style, with about five or so minutes spent with each sorority. Everyone was extremely welcoming, which made sure that the conversations, made a little awkward by the amount of people and level of noise in the room, flowed as smoothly as possible.
I won't go into too much detail now (there are plenty of events left for that! haha) but I will say that I'm already starting to get a better understanding of each chapter. I will obviously be keeping an open mind through Rush, but I have to admit that I'm absolutely loving Damon, Elena, Katherine, and Caroline!
I can't wait to start Recruitment, and I look forward to updating again soon

Kappa Kappa Gamma
I saw another post on here about the Kappa Kappa Gamma colonization at CU this year. I just wanted to say that I will be referring to them as their name, as it would be incredibly obvious if I nicknamed them. They're the only colonizing sorority presenting on the first night of Recruitment this weekend, and they explained to us at Open House that they would not be participating in the rest of the parties/activities.
As of right now I'm not interested in dropping out of Fall Recruitment to wait for Spring Recruitment, in which Kappa Kappa Gamma will be participating. I may comment lightly on their presentation (don't worry, I'm a very polite person, you have nothing to worry about ) but they will not be a main part of my Chapman Recruitment Diaries story. Just wanted to get that out there so you all know what's going on!
