A Special Christmas Ornament?
Does anyone have Christmas ornaments that are special to them?
I have collected a set of Hallmark's Feliz Navidad ornaments starting in 1989, when I switched from teaching science to Spanish. I just cherish them, especially the tiny piņata!

Too many to name...
I have MANY special Christmas ornaments. My Grandma and my Nana both crochet, and they've made some beautiful snowflakes that go on my tree. Also, my Grandma has made a white crocheted angel for each member of our family for the past couple of years. They are gorgeous.
Other special ornaments that I love are my various turtles that friends and family have given me through the years since I pledged Delta Zeta, my collection of Georgia Tech ornaments, and a tiny pair of blue and white ceramic shoes that came from my trip to Amsterdam last year.
Merry Christmas, everyone!

Every year I try to capture something humorous-though it may not have been at the time. THIS year, my son's ornament will be handcuffs with a red ribbon because he's been visiting the office at school a lot and had some detention and grounding. (ALL minor infractions) My daughter's will be two hot wheel cars, pounded, tied with a red ribbon to represent our two cars she totaled.

Every year since Art and I started dating we bought a Hallmark ornament! The first year I got him one with a pic of us at my sorority ball that said "our first Christmas together 1998". 1999 we got a snowman that said "Hats off to the New Millenium" and it was dated. Last year we got an Eskimo carving a picture of a penguin in ice...also dated. This year we recieved a Hallmark ornament from friends that said "Our first Christmas together 2001" (since we got married in Oct) so we bought an ornament from Carleton Cards that had a Bride and Groom mouse on it and "Our First Christmas together 2001". I wanted one that had a B+G on it! All those ornaments are very special to me cause they represent each year I have been with and loved my honey! We're going to get a dated one each year....and continue it when we have kids!

My mom gives us kids a new ornament every year. It's very tough for me to put them on the tree without shedding a tear because of a memory or whatnot.
Some of my favorites include a little angel with brown hair (just like me) that was painted onto wood. I think that was one of my ornaments from Bell and Lloyd (our landlords when I was 3). Another is of micky mouse dressed like a wizzard. That was the first ornament my mom gave me. And a few others include a ballerina and toy solder painted onto those old clothes pins. They have some little outfits too and they're just precious!
God, I'm gonna miss living at home and having our family Christmas tree

Starting with the year my parents got engaged, my dad bought my mom a sterling silver tree ornament for the tree.
We continued the tradition after he died in 1994 for a few years, I think we may have skipped a year or two though.
We tie the ornaments on with red satin ribbon and decorate the tree with white lights and red balls in addition to the silver ornaments. It looks gorgeous

But just think, hon!! You'll have your very OWN home with your new hubby, and lots of ornaments that belong to the both of you. It'll be different, but I think it's just as exciting. Besides, I'm sure the fam will be biting at the bit to have you back whenever you want to wake up and see if Santa's come at your old house!
This year one of our new members made me a ZTA ornament that is just gorgeous...I can't wait to take it home Thursday and put it on my tree!! (Our apt. tree is not quite as large as the one my folks have )
