Letters of Recommendation?

Hi, I am a incoming freshman and I am looking to rush in the fall. I have been researching quite a bit and found out that I should have letters of recommendation for each sorority. Can someone please explain to me exactly what that is and how I can get them? Thank you so much

Sorry if I sound totally ignorant..I'm just trying to learn as much information as I can.
