Drop Letters to Join Another..

Hi all, idk if this is the right section for this post so if its not sorry.

(posted in the intro section by accident)

well i am a active sister in a GLO, they arent national, have been around for about 17 years and only have 6 chapters. I joined this org because i thought i could really help out and help this baby to grow. 3 of the girls that were sapose to be my LS treated me badly when we were pledges, and now that we are "Sisters" it has gotten worse and theyve tried to turn other sisters against me. luckily the other sisters saw through their lies and mean attempts. alot of the sisters from other chapters dont help, they just make the problem worse. there have been meetings about this problem and yet nothing has changed.

i no longer feel as tho this org can help me grow and dont think these people are right for me. i want a SISTERHOOD not a bitchyhood, everyone is about themselves and when they need help im there but if i need help only ONE person is there for me and thats my "Little". I want to drop my letters and pursue another org, but i dont want to loose my little, and i dont think another org will have me.

Am i wrong?
Thoughts and Opinions????

First, you need to pledge the library. Your grammar and spelling are atrocious, and don't blame it on using your Ipad.

Dropping out of this organization is going to make you lose (not loose) friends. That's just how it is. Will you be able to keep a few? Hopefully, but it's really going to depend on the strength of those friendships and how much they appreciate your feelings.

As far as pledging another group, there is no restriction against pledging an NPC sorority if you were a member of a local (as far as I know anyway) but that doesn't mean the other sororities on your campus want to take on the politics or the baggage. If you are talking about pledging an NPHC, multi-cultural, professional, service or other kind of sorority, that's going to depend on their policies as well and whether they also would want to take on your baggage. But really you have to decide about the group you're currently in before looking for greener pastures.

I know of people who joined local/regional organizations who later went on to become members of NPHC orgs. I have not worked out how I feel about this personally. I also do not know what they said during their membership pursuit to justify having been in an existing multi/bi-cultural organization.

In one case, the person was actually the founder of her org and it still exists.

My point is that it can be done, and it might even be worth it for you, but many on the outside will always connect you as having been a member of the first org.

Why are you so angry about typos?? Im not writing a thesis simply posting a message. if spelling an improper use of grammar bothers you so much maybe you should see about getting paid to correct peoples post on here instead of doing it for free and annoying ppl

How can someone that uses such improper grammar and spelling be in college? Please use commas, they work wonders. Plus the way you present yourself on the internet says a lot about you.

Many people on GC dislike poor grammar. Why? Because you are communicating with others and asking for advice. We should be able to understand you. Instead the messages come off as juvenile dribble that is often annoying to read if not somewhat unintelligible. You are interested in joining some of our organizations and should present yourself as a mature and intelligent adult that would actually make a great addition to a chapter rather than someone who appears to have never taken (or passed I suppose) an English class. Grammar and spelling don't have to be perfect, but at least pay attention to basics when you are communicating to anyone outside your immediate circle of friends. Actually even with friends I would say a person should still use the basics when communicating anything.

Also, why are you being so defensive and then attacking a regular poster. It is not a way to make friends here and you are much less likely to get answers here. Plus it makes you come off as rather rude.

These are just my musings as people seem to ask why we care about spelling and grammar. I'm only a year out of college and don't understand why people think it is okay to slack off like this.

Holy shitballs, calm down and be nice, because yelling at us will get you nowhere. Do you come from a place where people actually respond well to this kind of language and impatience?

Talking about yourself in the third person is just stupid--especially to chastise regular members on this board. When you learn how to conduct yourself in a semi-respectful manner, please return. Until then, just go away. Many organizations (I can say mine specifically) do not want someone like you as a member. Goodbye.
