Rush
Well, rush has come and gone, finally, after 7 long weeks! we got 15 guys, bringing chapter total to somewhere around 75. Not a fantastic rush, but not bad by any means. As far as numbers this year, we ranked 5/8, with ATO, Triangle, and FIJI all getting over 20 members, Pike with 17, us, and then Theta Xi with 6, and Sigma Nu with 1.
Now, we're in 2 weeks of no contact with the freshman that didn't join anywhere, and after that, it's open season for "spring" rush. There are 3 guys that we bid that didn't join anywhere, so we're hoping to snag them too!
Also, I won the Scott M. Jank Rush Award, which is named after a brother who passed away in early 1997. He joined as a sophomore, but had wanted to join since the previous spring. He rushed very hard for the chapter, even before he had a bid, so when he died, they named an award after him, to be given to the top rusher that fall. I got $1000, a plaque, and my name on a larger plaque that is kept at the house. I was VERY honored to recieve this award!

Chiming in..
We did really well too, we have a group of 28 outstanding young men who are AM's. THat brought our chapter size to nearly 70. A record for the zeta, and just shy of the schools size record. Since numbers are very hard to shake outta the schools hands, we dont know our size in relation to the other orgs, but I think we are second largest, if not largest chap of 10 fraternities on campus. Figuring in for graduations and the like, after next fall we will be at 85-90 men. Quite a difference from when the chap was small.

Rush
Our rush structure is definitely atypical. When we talk to the ISU guys, they are in awe of how we can deal with it. It's a load of BS, but we've been dealing with it for years. It's not quite as bad as sorority rush, but theirs is much shorter at least!

the Hot tub did well, we made news in our school paper, and all done during Parents Weekend.
So needless to say, i'm sure we got a whole new generation interested in us. Much love to Sigma Kappa Girls all over for helping us to the fullest.
hoping that all of your Food Drives are kicking ass, hope to all your guys are full of the ideals and respect. Change can only happen from the inside. So we're trying to get our hands on IFC over here, i'm the new parlemenarian (sp?) so i have to create a Judical Board, which we don't have here. . . so if any of you could share ideas with me on that, i would be grateful.
much lambda love to all readers.

Jacob, glad the hot tub a thon went well!!! Great to be in a hot tub with hot girls!!!
i took a drive Sun and went by William-Jewell and UMKC houses and told them about the hot tub event! They sounded enthusiatic about it so maybe we can get more Chapters to get on the wagon!
I found out Sun. also that the Food Drive had just finished! Damn, I could have given food for the house!
The New International site on digital is sucking! Have sent reccommendations but for naught!
Keep me updated if you get anymore zetas going for the hot tub charity event! I mention everytime I talk to a Brother around the country!

Ok back to rush...This fall our chapter recruited 20 new members putting us at 43 members. THis fall we went with a co-Delta setup. Do any other chapters out there use a co-Delta system? We do informal rush, so it takes place over the summer and into the fall.
The chapter has also inplemted a year-round recruitment system. It entails having each member finding a potential rushee and writing their info on a piece of paper. The Delta and chapter member each have a copy. THe member is responsible for contacting this potential rushee and bringing him out to a rush event. Each week at chapter meetings, the Deltas will ask members how they are doing with their contacts. The chapter has recruited 4 guys since the first of November, when the system was put in place.
Good luck to you all in recruitment!!

Lifesaver,
28? Wow, I don't envy you come Ritual time.....wow.
Impressive number. I remember seeing 28 in the mid-90's at CSU....ritual took a VERY long time indeed. Rest up, you'll be needing it - but it's worth it.
Very well done.
