True Change of Heart, need advice
i had a question for any NPHC sorority member. i expressed serious interest in one sorority because my mother was apart of it and i thought that it was the right one for me. but after some intensive research and talking with members of another sorority i realized that the first one isnt for me. because i attended rush for the first one, i'm afraid that the second will reject me without realizing that i have had a true change of heart. can anyone give advice? please!

Tell them that you have had a change of heart!! Let them see that you made a mistake and are now interested in them. Explain the situation about your mother with them and I'm sure that they will understand.
Don't feel bad, it happens all of the time!
Have a nice day!

It's nice to assume things will turn out sweetly like this, but VelvetOne said she expressed interest in an NPHC sorority, and again, things work a little differently. This is not to say that there's no chance of you acheiving membership in your "second choice" now (or first choice, however you see it), but in a BGLO, attending a rush is a serious declaration of interest in ONE org. I would say the chances would depend on the chapters on your campus of the 2 sororities you're torn between... nobody else can really answer that but them. Good luck...

Here we go again.
If you are not a member of the type of org of which the question is asked or you do not have intimate knowledge of the processes and/or procedures, DO NOT ANSWER THE QUESTION. As stated ad nauseum, you could be giving false or misleading information. There are plenty of people here on GreekChat that know the proper answer to the questions asked.

Excuse me obviously people make mistakes.
I really don't care if it is an NPHC or NPC sorority. All I was basically saying was for her to go talk to the sorority that she was interested in...is there now something against talking to people and working to reach a goal?

As stated previously, there is a difference. The difference, in this instance, is in who you approach and how you approach them...its called PROTOCOL. I know absolutely nothing about Bid Day or other NPC guidelines/rules/traditions/PROTOCOL so I do not comment but continue to observe and learn.
My remarks were not aimed at you personally, but rather at the general community of chatters. One would think that the information shared in the many current and previous threads would be digested accordingly.
I'm done.

This why people are told to do their research, before expressing interest.
Soror Mccoyred, I'm LMAO right now!

I'm going to head out on the limb here and agree 100% with you on this one! We have been round and round about this, and it all STILL goes back to people needing to do a SEARCH before posting the same exact thing over and over and over and over....
I just don't agree with it when we are rude to each other (ie, name calling and the like) -- which I think in this case it was handled quite politely and directly to the point. The "SEARCH" function works great for both people posting new topics as well as people answering to posts.
VelvetOne - do a search - you will find the information you need to know. Good luck in your endeavors.

thanks to everyone who applied, and my apologies to the moderator. from the responses so far, i'm seeing that there is hardly an distinct solution to my issue. some responses hit me kinda hard, but its the truth and i appreciate it. for bigBERG, i did my complete research...i wasnt planning on riding a legacy to get in. i just had blinders on, and i might have to wait a long while to correct things. have a good day

VelvetOne, I wasn't talking about you in the beginning of my post. I apologize if it came off that way. I was venting because that happened to me this past weekend, some little twerp approached me rambling that nonsense.

The most annoying thing in the world is to meet someone who's first response is hey, my dad's in your frat. Is that the best you can do. On my yard we encourage prospects to look into the other fraternities, because this is for LIFE. But I am a little confused about the expressed serious interest part...does that mean more than just informational sessions.

I can understand having a true change of heart as I also endured the same. The difference is that I discovered my preference through research BEFORE attending a rush or expressing interest. My mother is a member of one NPHC sorority, and I another, so that can be done. However, knowing that you attended a rush I must say your work is cut out for you. From now on use discretion, research and choose your words wisely. Admit your mistake, but expect no miracles.
