The SOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUL Train Awards
40th Anniversary Soul Train Awards.
The red carpet is on BET now.
They are doing a tribute to Gladys Knight; Earth, Wind, and Fire; and Heavy D. This will be a good show. The Time (Morris Day, Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis and crew) will perform.

Nicole Bitchie, sitchoassdown. You won an award for your gossip blog. Then you broke down in tears about how your momma kicked you out of the house when you first started because she didn't understand your vision. Your tears are wasted on the Soul Train Awards red carpet. And wasted on those of us who don't care about your vision. Go away. Oh yeah...congrats!!!

The new youngin (14 years old) group Mindless Behavior (sp) is adorable to me. They are just like every young boy group before them. I saw them perform on The Wendy Williams Show. They will perform tonight. They are cute and somewhat talented. They are so nervous. Stuttering and stuff. Awwww.

I saw the show. It was pretty cool. I turned in within the five minutes and saw Morris Day and The Time jamming. Especially when they perform "COOL". Lloyd and Mindless Behavior did okay. I was disappointed they show Earth, Wind & Fire towards the end of the show as the credits were rolling. Cedric The Entertainer was good.

I tweeted about this a bit last night. Not a bad show, and not a trainwreck like the BET Awards have become. Just a few observations:
1. Gladys Knight is still a class act. She could have blown most of those in her tribute off of the stage.
2. Why were there no closeups of Natalie Cole during that tribute?
3. Cee-Lo Green is becoming the "go to" guy for award show tributes on BET. Exhibit A: the Patti LaBelle tribute during the BET Awards.
4. DrPhil, you called it on Nicole Bitchie. My reactions in order: "Who?" "You write a blog, it's not the Nobel Prize". "Bossip is better, but at least you're not Media Take Out."
5. The Original 7even could have played longer; conversely, the Heavy D memorial was too short. If the show had been broadcast live, it would have been better.
6. I hope some of the young acts will be around this time next year.
7. My sister pointed out that Earth, Wind & Fire never performed on Soul Train when it was on the air.
8. Was Don Cornelius in the building?
We'll see what 2012 brings.

Hope so too. Haven't seen Don since the BET awards where he was a presenter to the O'Jays receiving the Lifetime achievement award.
