Happy Birthday Kappa Alpha!
In 1825, the first college social fraternity, Kappa Alpha, was formed at Union College in Schenectady, N.Y - November 26th!

Hey KABillyMac,
What is KA Society in comparison to Kappa Alpha Order?

KA Society was founded in Ny. in 1825. The Order was founded in December of 1865. Our founding fathers, and our practical founder, sent 2 seperate commisions to meet with what we call "Northern KA" in an effort to uncover if a merger between the two would be benificial to either of us. Both commisions reported unfavorably against any kind of union of the two KA's.
We are in no way related to the Society. The most noticeable diffrence between the two is Society is Northern and the Order originated Southern. So the two are completely seperate entities from each other. I cannot give you a history on the Society, or if they have the same beliefs as us.
Hope that answers your question.

KA foundation
I remembered awhile back a few girls at our house said that Kappa Alpha was based on a Klan mentality in the south. Is this true? I know KA's and they are awesome guys, but I wonder if this fraternity did start out on not so pure intentions? Anyone have any insight?

Here is some insight. That theory is a crock of sh!t. Go and purchase a copy of "The History of Kappa Alpha Order" for you and your friend. Go to KA-Order.Org and get yourself a copy. Many fraternities were founded in the South. Many good ones actually. Many national fraternities had founding fathers that fought in the Civil War for the confederacy. We always take the fall for all of it because of our pride in the South.

Thanks
thanks for the insight, I didn't mean to be rude, just wanted a clarification since I heard heard different stories. I didn't want to fall into the whole most people do when they accept everything they hear as true.
Thanks anyhow.
