Anne Rice's Feast of All Saints
Has anyone seen this movie or read this book?
I watched the movie this weekend, and it was really good!! I hope that Showtime puts this out on DVD because I would love to own it. It was just that good.
I'm wondering if the book was good, too. This lady has skills!

I read the book a while back and I saw the movie..
I really liked it-- I made my husband tape it for me..
Anne Rice's take on some these issues is quite good.. she must have done her research...

I agree!!! All through the movie, we were like, dang, and a white woman wrote this??? Go 'head on girl!!!
Another thing that tripped me out: The dude, Robert Ri'chard... he's the dude on One on One, and I had no idea that he could act like that! He's a REALLY good actor!!!

Question...
Was it ever publicized? I mean, I just stumbled upon it.

I know what you mean. I happened to be watching the TV guide channel the night it showed. They(TV guide channel) reviewed it and gave the time it was going to play. It just looked good from the preview. I'm glad I watched. I really enjoyed it. I'm going to buy the book.

I don't have Showtime
but it was advertised down here, since Anne Rice lives here, right off St.Charles Avenue. Remember on the RW, New Orleans, the crew got a chance to visit her house. I believe they spoke with her son or something.
Anne Rice is also the author of the book "Queen of the Damned" or whatever it's called. The book was made into a movie which will star Aaliyah.
The local newspaper dogged the movie, especially since the movie was made in Canada and NOT New Orleans.

I posted this in the Zeta's Forum the first night it premiered(November 11, 2001).
Like you Ideal, I thorougly enjoyed this movie and personally want my own copy.
Even though I knew of the Quadroon Balls and the system of placage, the movie really opened my eyes to the issues that came along as a result of this system. I have never read any of Anne Rice's books, but after viewing the movie I am going purchase The Feast Of All Saints.

I saw the 1st half..
But missed the second part. I really hope showtime sells this on video because the last part I saw was when the (sorry I can't remember the characters name) the white father beat his black son after the boy came to the main house.
ARRRRGGHHH! I want to see the rest of this movie! (no , I dont have showtime, just basic cable)
BTW, did Jasmine Guy look kind of pasty or is that just me?

See, the same thing happened to me the first time I watched it, and that was the ONLY part I saw. I was like, dang, I KNOW there's more than this. Then I caught the FULL movie. I don't know why Showtime does that, without telling you there's more too it. Like, say Part 1 of 2. And WHY do they show Part 1 WITHOUT showing Part 2 next??? I mean, come on now, really.
Speaking of Jasmine Guy, I also liked how they used SO many well known actors and actresses. It was like seeing a movie at the movies.
