Yay!
I do have to say... after watching the preview, I'm not sure I like where this season is going. I know the focus is supposed to be witches, but the way the fairy line is portrayed right off the bat... I don't know.

Ditto. I'm not really sure if I'll be watching the whole season, but I hope they stay somewhat on track!

Has anyone read the Sookie Stackhouse series which True Blood is based off of? I have read them all and am currently reading the newest that came out in May.

I have read all the books, LOVE them.
LOVE the series, waiting for it to start as we speak.
I do get upset that the show is soooo different than the books.

I'm reading the books. In fact, the newest one is the 1st book loaded onto my new Color Nook but I am holding out reading it until this weekend.
I don't have HBO and haven't gotten around to getting from Blockbuster if they have it.

I finished the newest book (Dead Reckoning) last weekend. They're always a fast read.
Yeah, the writers only kinda sorta stay tied to the storylines in the books. I love Lafayette in the show, but Jessica annoys me.

Sigh..... thoughts? I think it completely has gone away from the books storyline now.

I read all of the books before I started watching the show. Not a huge fan of her style of writing (at all) but I was hooked on the story & read the last one the day after it came out! Honestly, I liked seasons 1-3 of the show more than the books. There were just a few things that I thought were portrayed better in the series- like what happened between the king & queen.
Overall, I did NOT like how they did things for tonight's episode. The majority of it was just laughable. I know that things cannot be exactly like the book but for this first episode it was 100% different. Hopefully it gets better as the season continues! Has anyone watched the second episode with hbogo.com?

K did anyone think the first episode sucked? There are so many things way different from the book and I do not like it. I wonder if other fans will agree?

Thank God. I think the show is WAY better than the books. Let's be honest, after the fifth book the author just lost her mojo plus if the show was a straight adaptation of the books it would be a little uneventful for those who read the books.

I agree. I'm gonna say that the show develops and portrays the characters better than the books do. Other than Sookie, all of the characters seem so one dimensional in the books, which is a big fail (on the books) IMO. Arlene, Jason, Sam, Tara, and Lafayette's stories in the show are well appreciated by me.

Don't get me wrong, there has to be plots for the other characters on the show. Otherwise all Sookie all the time would get boring. I can agree with part of what CarolinaPhi said, I don't always care for C. Harris' style of writing. And I enjoy seeing Tara, Sam, Jason and Laf with their own stories. But I still think last nights show kinda sucked. I'll still watch though, I need my weekly dose of hot super men.
