What to wear for recruitment?
Hello,
I am going to go through recruitment in about 2 weeks and I have no idea what to wear for any of the days except preference day.
The days are:
Day 1: open house
(business casual)
Day 2: sisterhood day
(business casual)
Day 3: Philanthropy day
(business casual)
Day 4: preference day
(formal)
Day 5: bid day
(casual)
Pictures of examples would be great!
Btw, I am rushing in the Northwest so I'm not sure if that matters outfit wise.

I HATE the phrase business casual. Hopefully your school's Greek Life website will be able to fill in some blanks because it varies so wildly by region, school and season. Take the lead from their pictures, and go a smidge nicer than that. Those website are notorious for being too casual, but don't go WAY nicer. If the girls are all wearing shorts, wear shorts, but maybe a bit dressier than what they're wearing. And styles (thankfully) seem to be going a bit longer this year, so butt crack shorts are a no-no.
Since you have deferred rush, hopefully you can discuss with some girls on your dorm floor to get an idea of what the others are wearing. This is also a good ice-breaker if you haven't made friends with some of these girls.
Without sharing your school (which it's wise not to) we will have trouble providing much support. Do a search for your school here. Maybe you'll find a previous thread that will help, or a student/alumna of your school to send a private message.

Noslen- I can't offer much help other than this which, if you are from the NW you know already - plan for rain. A good general rule of thumb is....think layers so you are prepared for any possibility other than snow and make sure you have an umbrella (normally not something we like to do in these parts but in this case it is necessary).
I'm sure there are people on here who could give you great advice if they knew the school (I have a pretty good idea, but my lips are sealed unless you want to say).
The only other thing I'd add without knowing where you are from is that the west coast is casual, of course, and that's particularly true in the NW.
Dubais Sis - I don't think she has deferred rush. Most of the schools in the NW (except WSU) are on the quarter system and start around the 3rd week in September (maybe there's a smaller school I've missed that starts in August and rushes September), but otherwise Noslen - listen to Dubais Sis - good advice.
I don't think that your school has website pictures of outfits though. Very few up here do that (unfortunately), and if you going where I think you're going - I couldn't find any for your school, but I may not have been looking in the right place.

Thanks AXOmom, and sorry for the mis-statement.

Thank you Dubais sis and AXOmom! I know i've tried looking for pictures online but nothing for my school. I've looked for pictures of other girls that have rushed but can't seem to find much either. So glad I stumbled across this site though otherwise i'd be completely lost! I'll try to go with some skirts and tanks with a cardigan? then maybe some skinny jeans and a nice top? of course with some nice flats to go with them.

No problem - sorry I can't be more help.
I will tell you that my daughter's friends who went through rush the year before her at U of O (her year they changed some of their dress requirements), said that there they wore dress pants or nice/dark skinny jeans w/cute tops and cardigans or shrugs (weather was cool that year). I'm believe there were plenty of the skirt/tank/cardigan combos as well. Cute flats or boots (w/the jeans/pants that is).
I don't know if their rush materials at the time described that as business casual. Like Dubais Sis - I kind of hate that term because it covers a wide range, but I would think they probably considered that business casual and in another NW school its going to be pretty similar, so I THINK you're on the right track.
I should mention that having lived in both states - she thinks the Washington schools tend to dress it up a little bit more than the Oregon schools AND again, not sure if you are in the NW or coming from another region, and I don't know what's popular where, so I apologize if this seems like a "duh, lady" thing but Nordstroms, Anthropology, Urban Outfitters, Forever 21, and H&M seem to be the stores of choice here at least. We're not a particularly high fashion bunch.

If you're by chance talking about Washington, they have a website that shows you exactly what to wear each day. Actually the first 2 days they give you a shirt to wear which you should pair with nice dark jeans and cute flat sandals. The week tends to get progressively dressier with Preference being the most formal. Even if it's not Washington, I would suggest taking a look at the recruitment site q&a's to get an idea about what they wear in the Pacific Northwest. Because it is on the quarter system & recruitment week starts before school, you will not have the opportunity to ask dorm friends so plan ahead. Good luck! Talked to my daughter today & they are expecting 700 PNM's there

I'm thinking its not UW (could be wrong) - Schedules don't match and her schedule says business casual the first two days (ruling out the provided greek shirt).
Kudos to UW for getting the pictures up (still can't find them for the other NW schools).
Noslen2 even though I don't think you are talking about UW - I would look at those pictures to get an idea because the styles will be generally similar (remembering that Oregon schools are a bit more casual and I know at least at UO, can't speak for the other Oregon schools - the pants/dark dressy jeans thing would also work well for business casual).
Having said that, I looked at the UW pictures and showed them to daughter (because I barely understood fashion when I was 18 and I'm thoroughly lost now). She said in picture 2 she thought the one in the middle would work well, the one on the right might be a BIT too businessy, and the one on the left...just no (besides the white skirt in late September - way too summery- especially when rain is a realistic threat).
Third picture she thought they all would work but the one in the middle she thought might be a little to casual or just not noticeable enough. Personally, I thought it was cute.
The preference dresses. Well, I'll quote her here, "NO - those look like bad Macy's prom dresses." Her only other comment is that unless they require you to wear a black dress for preference (and UW may), DON"T. Pick something they'll remember (in a good way).

I'll defer to someone a little younger and in closer proximity to the Pacific Northwest, but I think this dress is a little casual and WAY short.
