DG at Alabama
So I've been reading tons of posts on here about the upcoming recruitment, trying to prepare myself for the re-colonization of Delta Gamma at Alabama. I thought i would start a thread specifically about this colonization, and advice and information about the process.
I'll give a little background about myself. I'm a junior at Alabama who is very much interested in DG and becoming a member of the new chapter. I'm a Greek virgin in the fact that I've never gone through recruitment before and i don't have any close family members who are in social Greek organizations (a few are in honors greek organizations) I've decided to sign up for a Delta Gamma interview because i know some girls who are members from other schools, and they've made me super excited and feel like DG is a good fit for me. I also love the idea of being apart of the shaping new traditions at Alabama that future sisters will love and enjoy.
I would love if anyone could give me advice on the interview and maybe explain more about what the re-colonization might be like. I was also wondering about how many bids they might give out ? Also will it hurt my chances because I'm going to be a junior? I would like to be as prepared as possible for the interview ect. Thanks

typically in most colonizations, the officers in charge of the colonization want a variety of classes, so juniors do have a chance. i will let any DGs who are familiar with their colonization process answer your other questions.

Yes, we are looking for women in all classes so that we mirror the campus and then graduate members in a logical sequence.
The web site has the colonization schedule so that will be very helpful. Be sure to attend the information sessions as they will be very informative. We will be allowed to pledge to average chapter size so we plan to be the same size as the majority of chapters on campus...around 250.
Be sure to bring any questions you may have to the interview. Things like cost, time frames, planned events, etc are things you will want to talk about. Be sure to dress appropriately.
Good luck!

Our DG Bama info thread:
http://www.greekchat.com/gcforums/sh...highlight=Bama
The number of bids really will depend on the interest level (how many PNMs register) and what average chapter size is at Bama. They generally aim for the colony to be similarly sized to the other chapters (or maybe a tad larger.) Above all, they're looking for quality women to begin their tradition at Bama.
Colonies generally take on a cross-section of class standings (including juniors and some seniors.) Obviously a colony cannot be all freshmen or sophs because they'd all graduate at the same time.

Should they be a little more dressed up (i.e., more businessy-type clothes) than they would be in regular rush since they're going to be meeting with national volunteers and alumnae - in general, older members - or should they just follow what's suggested on Bama's site as dress guidelines?
Asking in case anyone interested is chicken to, and also because I'm just curious.

Personally, I would say dress professionally, business casual at the least. look at it as a job interview and you will make a good first impression.

Yes, and the address for sponsor forms is on the web site. And I would consider a "non formal dress" to be professional or business casual attire.
