Ole Miss Transfer

I am transferring to Ole Miss in the fall and am absolutely planning on rushing. What do I need to do to prepare for rush? I heard it is very competitive. I will be a sophomore, does that lesson my chances of receiving a bid? Thanks in advance

I don't go to Ole Miss, but a good chunk of my family did (In fact my mom is writing a sorority rec as we speak). Start getting recs for every sorority as soon as possible. And rushing as a sophomore doesn't necessarily mean anything. Don't worry about it, as it's something you can't control. Put your best foot forward and hope for the best.

1) Please go to the recruitment forum on GC and READ the stickies. And do a search for Ole Miss recruitment.

2) Please do not pay attention to well-meaning but misguided advice from non-sorority members, because it will take you places you shouldn't go.

3) See 1), above.

Good luck.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, because I'm certainly not familiar with the very competitive Southern rushes, but I think this is what is important to know:

Being a sophomore will hinder you, but since there is nothing you can do about it, make sure you are top notch in everything else. Recs, conversation skills, facebook discretion, appearance/clothes, etc.

Since Ole Miss has an upperclass quota, being a sophomore is not the disadvantage it was 10 years ago. If you have good grades (above a 3.0), campus activities, recs, and don't mess up your reputation by getting out of control at frat houses or bars...you have a very good chance of pledging at Ole Miss.
Remember that this recruitment is in late September. Get to know the sorority women in your classes...recruitment rules limit how much interaction you can have with them...but if you show up for class groomed and prepared it will go a long way!

I'm sorry but I graduated from Ole Miss so I know that is a very misleading statement. Ole Miss' upperclass quota is optional not mandatory. If chapters still don't want upperclassmen then they will cut them.

OP, you are going in with a disadvantage, but there is nothing you can do about that. Recruitment could be in September or October, fyi. It's scheduled on a bye week. The best thing to do is read the threads and be prepared.

And just for those who don't know what a bye week is, bless your hearts, it means when there is no home football game.

You may have attended Ole Miss but you were not Greek there. You are a recent alumna initiate on the other side of the country. You're not in a position to act like an expert on the membership selection and quota policies of chapters there.

WHAT????

She says it right there in her posts. There is nothing "alleged" about it. Are you saying Barbie's_Rush made those posts up?

Or are you saying that you think DZTurtle11 isn't a DZ AI at all and she's a psycho stalker?

I think Splash is saying DZTurtle may be a perp. Splash's post rubbed me the wrong way.

I hope Splash has a reason to say that and isn't just saying that to share that she has a friend in that alumnae chapter. It takes nothing to know whether someone is a perp if you know someone from that chapter.
