Damages to Public Forest Land: $4,300 (U of Idaho, Delta Sigma Phi)

Excerpts from article (article address below); article has pic of the fraternity's house):

. . . several members of a fraternity at the University of Idaho have paid more than $4,300 for damages done on public forest land.
**
The members of the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity were charged in U.S. District Court last spring for creating a road into an area known as Vassar Meadows east of Moscow. Forest officials say at least one of the student's vehicles became stuck in the meadow and created deep ruts. . . .

Just to note they haven't been the only people who have damaged the land and been fined, it is a real problem in some areas where casual access leads to damage. A group of juvenile offenders from Washington were fined over $2,000 for damages nearby, and individuals are fined as well for damage with ATVs and regular vehicles. It is federal land and the Feds do not mess around, as the fraternities are neighboring Washington State University have been banned and taken to federal court for their actions on the Salmon River down in Riggins.

Historical note, if you click through the article the home pictured is the original Kappa Alpha Theta house, their second house is behind it. The second house is shaped like a kite and now occupied by Kappa Delta, Theta built a new home when they recolonized in the early 2000s.
