We Help Each Other Look More Beautiful!

I have always had long, thick eyelashes - I was given my first eyelash curler when I was four. It's a shame that they're reddish blonde, but still, a whisk of mascara & I was set.

Up until recently. I know that years ago, I was in a serious car accident (I wa a pedestrian) and one of the results was losing all of my eyelashes for a while. They grew back even longer & thicker. I would have accepted this happening after my mother's death, but I really don't have a current trauma to blame this on.

Does anyone know of anything else that could cause this? They're in a thin line, not the usual double/triple rows as usual. I use mascara remover diligently (always have), so it's not like they're breaking. HELP!!!!

Well, I know mine used to be super thick too, and as I've gotten (ahem) older they are thinning a bit. I don't think that's the only reason, but it probably plays into it.

Stress can make them thinner, or allergies that make you rub your eyes more often. It's probably not a popular suggestion, but I'd try and leave the makeup off for a while when you can, just to give the eyes a break.

Allergies is an interesting theory.. have you changed mascaras or mascara remover lately? I know I've never used waterproof mascara because the few times I did, it seemed like eyelashes came out when I used remover. I stick to non-waterproof and just use water on them. I do think mine have thinned over the years, but so has the hair on my head. It's not noticeable to others, but it is noticeable to me.

Covergirl makes (used to make?) a clear mascara that might be worth a try. It would probably be a lot easier on your lashes while they "heal" but still give you some definition.

Apparently, everyone gets something like mites (??) in their eyelashes and eyebrows that make them thin over time. I was told to gently wash them with baby shampoo every once in a while.

Or what about vitamins? Doesn't Vitamin B make your hair and nails grow?

My grandmother used vaseline in lieu of mascara. Vaseline darkened and conditions the lashes. If you're losing hair as well (or not) have your thyroid checked. A low thyroid can cause hair loss.
