I'm really excited! The awards will be handed out in January, but I just had to let you all know that my Co-worker's group Blessed has been nominated for 2 awards this year.
If you all knew what they have been through on their journey, you'd be excited too.
And, for my co-worker, who has been passed over for administrative positions at our school. The only person in her department with an advanced degree, but gets the worst students, while OTHERS teach the cream of the crop, who ONLY have a BS.
I always tease her and tell her she's going to become the next Yolanda Adams. The next gospel artist to leave the teaching profession for some REAL MONEY.
I remember speaking with her after she came back from last year's award show. She enlightened me on how the "biz" is, even on the Gospel side. Many of the people are speaking, singing and praising HIS name, but when you see them to speak to them it's a totally different thing. (I'm not going to mention any names, but I was

to say the least.)
She told me that their strategy (the Groups) was to remain on a grass-roots effort. They were going to do the little venues, still do the church programs, if you will and minister. And if it was meant for them to get recognized, then so be it. And after everything, they are getting some recognition.
You know I'm going to have to watch when it is televised.

And to add to this "success", my co-worker and her husband in May became the proud parents of a bouncing baby boy after nearly 10 years of trying!
