I thought CG started this thread. I was going to say "What, are we going to post about steel?"

Then I saw it was you, so I figured it out. Carry on lol

I guess I get my music mixed up. Do I like metal if I love AC/DC, Winger, Van Halen, The Scorpions, KISS, Queen and Led Zeppelin? I'm not sure if that's metal, heavy metal, or hard rock. I'm just asking because I wanna make sure I'm posting the right songs.

I would put heavy metal as a subgenre of metal along with the others I listed above.

This is just my opinion, but AC/DC - Hard Rock. No bueno for this thread.
Winger, Van Halen and KISS - Glam Metal. Awesome.
The Scorpions, Queen, Led Zepplin - Arena Rock. No bueno, for this thread, but still awesome.

Also the band with the 2nd place for my 2010 AOTY that does my state proud: Within the Ruins - Victory

I'm partial to new metal (nu metal?). Modern metal with a lot of grunge influence is more my style (you can tell I'm a child of the 90's), but I'm not a major fan of grunge rock music alone (Nirvana, Pearl Jam). Don't get me wrong, I love everything Metallica, but I've embraced the albums from the Black album to the present, and most "metal heads" haven't.

Some of my favorite modern mainstream metal:

System of a Down:

Korn

RHCP

Monster Magnet

Powerman5000

Godsmack

and my favorite Metallica:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1QP-SIW6iKY
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=boanu...=TLuVruiYxutGs (LOVE this one!)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fd9oh...=TLVPCq0GHbWsk (metal + symphony orchestra = love)

You should check out some symphonic metal bands. Some of them are over the top cheesy, but with the right songs and arrangements, it's one of my favorite genres.

Apocalyptica
Dark Moor
Dragonland
Epica
Fairyland
Kamelot
Luca Turilli
Nightwish
Rhapsody of Fire
ReinXeed
Sonata Arctica
Versailles -Philharmonic Quintet-
Wintersun
Within Temptation
X Japan

I didn't think they counted, but I love both of these, too.

Is RHCP metal? I was never quite sure how to categorize them.

I do like Apocalyptica. Never heard of the others, but will look around for them.
