Songs That Remind You of Recruitment

Just sitting around and thought this might be a fun discussion question.

Are there any songs that when you hear them remind you of recruitment? Maybe it was a door song from a chapter you visited when you were rushing, or one your sorority used every year so you listened to it a million times! Maybe one used in a slide show on skit/brag/sisterhood day?

Here are some that remind me of recruitment.

"Build Me Up Buttercup" by The Foundations (Slide Show)
"Sugar, Sugar" by The Archies (Slide Show)
"This One's for the Girls" Martina McBride (Slide Show)
"Let's Get Loud" by Jennifer Lopez (Door Song)
"We Are Family" by Sister Sledge (Door Song "We are Alpha Xi")
"Man I Feel Like a Woman" by Shania Twain (Door Song)
"I'll Be There For You" by The Rembrants (Door Song)
"8 Days a Week" by The Beatles (Door Song)
"Crocodile Rock" by Elton John (Door Song)
"Wishin' and Hopin'" by Ani DiFranco (Song from our Skit)
"At the Begining" by Donna Lewis and Richard Marx (Song from Pref Ceremony)
"The Rose" by Bette Midler (Song from Pref Ceremony)
"Viva Las Vegas" by Elvis Presley (Door Song)
"Material Girl" by Madona (Door Song)

Oh "Build Me Up Buttercup".... I think I heard this 3 different times (from 3 different sororities!) during my recruitment.

"Girls Just Want To Have Fun" by Cyndi Lauper (slideshow) and "I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor (skit) always remind me of my past recruitments.

I promise you that almost every sorority that exists has a song to the tune of "Today".

"Suddenly I See" by KT Tunstall. I think Kappa nationally uses it for a lot of their videos and we've definitely used it for our recruitment slideshow (we're not allowed to do skits, just short powerpoints of pictures). It's a perfect song for recruitment!

My senior year we used the Glee mashup of "Walking on Sunshine" and "Halo" - it's really cute if you haven't heard it. So that will always remind me of recruitment!

My chapter used to sing the Fresh Prince theme song to pump ourselves up before girls came in. It's my favorite thing I learned in college.

Coldplay's Speed of Sound. If you listen to the lyrics, it reminds me so much of the emotional rollercoaster of recruitment! At least for me.

Maybe you can guess what song this one was inspired by:

"You change your mind during rush all the time
Yeah, you want to find the right house, we all know
(Some words I don't remember...)
....
Cuz we're blue and we're gold
and you should be told
that without a doubt
you'll have fun at our house
...."

That's all I remember. But there was more

Also:
From the Alpha... To the Xi (to the Xi), I got all my sisters with me.
Aww hey hey all you rushees... aww hey hey go greek (GO GREEK!)

Though this one was never actually used... I also changed some words

"Leaving on a Jet Plane"
"Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious"
"Rockin' Robin"

and "Cheeseburger in Paradise" ... One year, my chapter's rush chair made a mix tape of songs she picked out, that we had to listen to throughout work week whenever we were working on decorations. She lurrrrved that song, so it appeared on the mix tape several times. By the end of work week I was about ready to take her boom box and use it to smash the tape into powder, and then smash the boom box itself into powder for good measure.

Mandy Moore "Have a little Faith in Me"
Donna Lewis "At the Beginning"

When I was rushing last year, I was looking at chapter websites and found those songs to be one of the most popular.

I also like Eric Church's Hell on the Heart.
