Planning to Rush - Please Help!!
Hello everyone,
I'm new to this forum and have been reading some of the posts and hope I can get a little help! I'm planning to rush this coming fall, but there are a few things against me to get a bid.
1. Im a transfered international student from another country (i.e. Asia). And I didnt rush right after I got in this school last year. So I'll be a Junior/Senior.
Though I'll take at least 2 more years of classes in my current school AND I'll go to the same grad school after I get my undergrad degree.
2. I'm 25. (I look 20 tho). Will anyone ask my age during the rush process?
3. My GPA is 2.5 overall and 3.1 for my major. (Due to a drastic drop for last semester! But I'm planning to get it back up and I know I'll get back to 3ish GPA )
4. My school has a majority of Caucasian people especially the Greek life. I'm Asian and I did not grow up here. So I'm not sure if that's a problem.
Besides all of the above, I'm a genuine person who is fun, easy going and a total sweetheart. There is no Greek life in my country and I wanna experience the whole sisterhood thing and to meet more people! I dont have a die-hard house to go to and I'm very open to all. At the end, I believe whoever likes me, I'll like them back!
So my question is, do you think I should still Rush? I heard just the rushing process is very exciting and fun, even if I dont get a bid.
Any information is welcome!
Thanks for reading and TIA for any inputs!

It will just depend on the campus. On some campuses it can be hard for juniors and seniors to get bids, though I would definitely explain that you will be on campus for two more years. Also take into consideration that you're 25 and if you get offered a bid you will be a new member in a pledge class of mostly 18 year olds, guided by officers that are usually 19-21. Do give that consideration, just to make sure being in that situation wouldn't bother you.
GPA requirements vary by organization, and some will take grade risks (PNM's who do not meet the set grade requirement)...but some will not.
I don't think it will hurt to go ahead and go through recruitment, just know that for some chapters, grades will be a black and white issue. Sign up and go into the week knowing that. Just be yourself, keep an open mind, and have fun! Worst case scenario: you don't get offered a bid, but you've met many new friends on your campus!
PS-A good way to prepare yourself is to find out who your campus's Greek Coordinator is and discuss your concerns with him/her. They will best be able to tell you how to navigate recruitment on your campus.

How big is your school? Is it a competative recruitment school? It's hard to help you when we don't know much about where you're going to school. With that:
1. I don't think you can be an active in an NPC group as a grad student (I'm 99% sure of this).
2. People might not ask, but they'll ask what year you are, and you will have to put your age on your recruitment application. Just remember your pledge class will likely be full of 18 and 19 year old girls.
3. You will have to check with your school recruitment policy on the minimum GPA for transfer/current college students. That means overall GPA, not your major GPA.
4. Your race is the last thing you should worry about. There are lots of affiliated women of Asian hertiage, don't let that intimidate you and just put your best foot forward! Your age and your GPA are going to be your downfalls.

This has been discussed on here in the past. it depends on the individual group.

Hi,
Thanks for the input!!!
I go to Pepperdine University which is a small private school of less than 3000 people.
It doesn't bother me to pledge with a bunch of 18, 19 year old! In fact, I find that really exciting and a once in a life time experience !

Great! A good attitude, of course, goes a long way. Hopefully someone from Pepperdine will come along in a minute to give you some advice!

Your GPA, age and class standing are all negatives against you, no matter what your background.
They may not outright ask your age in conversation, but I would imagine your date of birth would be required on the recruitment application.
