Which is better..?

I have officially decided on transferring to USC (Southern California), and I know that I'm going to need recs.
Where I live, greek life is not very prominent so I've only secured a few.

You've all said before to register with your local panhellenic alumnae (I think that's what it's called). I'm a little confused though. I found my most local one, but then I also found that each individual chapter has alumnae associations.

Would it be better to go through the one collective one or find the individual ones of each sorority I need? Is there even a difference?

Sorry if I didn't explain it right lol I hope you all understand!

No, go through your local alum Panhellenic first. They will let you know if it's OK for you to contact the alumnae associations directly. Also, different sororities' alumnae associations work in different ways.

My opinion, I always tell girls to go through the local APH. Generally speaking, they are used to helping PNMs.

Indivdual sorority alumnae chapters are good to go to if for some reason your APH doesn't have a rep for a sorority you need. I wouldn't make them your primary source of recs though.

Make sure you've really exhausted your personal contacts before you go to the APH.

another question lol..
My dad knows a sorority woman (not sure if she's in a sorority from usc though). I have never met her in my life, though. If she could write me a letter, what would the difference between this "personal contact" and a woman from the APH be?

On my sorority's rec form (don't know about others), we can check a box saying we know the PNM or her family personally. I would think it would give a little more weight to the rec since she knows your dad, especially if she's an involved alumna.

you can always offer to meet with the woman in person at a starbucks or other public place-then she will have met you in person.

No! Go to the APH now. It may take a little time for the APH to process your forms and distribute them to member groups. And some APHs are not taking applications after June 1.
