OP, congrats to your friend! Lots of websites have options for stitched letter shirts (sometimes called "twill" I believe), look around! As far as the symbol, motto letters etc...Personally, I like my letter shirts plain. I suppose if you really wanted to do something, you could do our letters on the front, then three stars on the back.
