I have a question for KD's

Okay so I'm 24 and I'm married with a child I finally started at a university and I was looking forward to joing a sorority until I found out that most sororities do not allow new members to be married. However searching through threads on here there are quite a few that I was told did not allow but according to several people on here do they in fact do allow married memebers. Since Kappa Delta was one of the sorieties I was looking at I was wondering if the same rules were true for this sorority as well?

My question now is for other phi mu sisters do phi mu laws prevent a married new member from joining? I'm asking y'all because the people on here seem to know more than anyone else I have talked to or any other site I have been too.

Phi Mu or Kappa Delta?

You might want to look up what discretion means.

Sorry I was torn between the two. Every school is different A very good friend of the family whom I admired very much as a child was Phi Mu not only that my grandmother lived right down the street from Weslyen the school where Phi mu was founded. But at my school I seem to relate better to the Kappa Delta girls only because those are the ones that I have met thus far having classes with a few and since I did say that Kappa Delta was one of the ones I was interested in I didn't think I would offend anyone.

Everything depends on the school and chapter. Some places it would be cool, others, there'd be a snowball's chance in a very warm place.

There are TONS of threads on GC about married women/women with kids rushing, please do some searches and educate yourself.

OTW-wow...you're quick!

I just noticed this...I mean-REALLY? Learn some freakin' discretion! Which is it? Do you want to join Phi Mu or do you want Kappa Delta? Why don't you tell us exactly what school you go to, along with your name? You know that once you go through recruitment (after being on GC) people are going to figure out who you are....I feel a little stupid even replying to you after I see you elsewhere on the boards....WOW!

I'm sorry for offending people I just don't know a lot of people at my school yet and this is something I really want to do I thought you picked your choices during rush anyways. I'm sorry I didn't mean to offend people I should have just posted on the recruitment board and listed the soroities at my school. So I could find out my options.

I realize that this is in the past at this point, but I am very disappointed in the way some of you all responded to her question! Before rushing, it's usually a given that you will be interested in more than one sorority. She has made it clear that we were in her top 2, and that she liked us because of how nice the KD's on her campus are! They are obviously promoting a wonderful image for us! Let's not tarnish that image by being rude to those interested in becoming a KD!

I just joined this tonight, and it was at the top of my list for some reason. I stated that "I realize that this is in the past at this point," I just felt the need to comment on it in hopes that katmac would realize that not all kds are so easily offended.

Most of the people who responded to this thread weren't KDs.

Stop being petty. She was curious about greek life and some of these posts may have deterred her from both houses.

If someone's opinions of any organization can be swayed by posts on a message board, they don't need to be going through recruitment.

Really? Because some people are shy and recruitment is intimidating. If they're talked down to on these boards, I could see that being a deterrent from going Greek. It wouldn't stop me, but there were several women in my chapter who were very timid about Greek life. Beyond that, if you're in a unique situation (i.e. married) or at a highly competitive Greek campus, recruitment can be even more intimidating.

I'm with NDKD and glitterandgrace, these boards amaze me sometimes. You're here representing your sorority, act like it.

Let us strive for that which is honorable, beautiful and highest.

Where did I talk down to anyone?

I fail to see that.

I think you're taking things a bit too seriously.
