So You Think You Can Dance - Season 6
So, I really want to call this thread "So You Think You Can Dance - Season 5 1/2"
Anyways...What do you think about season 6 airing so closely on the heels of season 5? I love it! And this season is actually competing with DWTS...

I actually don't mind that this season is starting immediately after the last one. The more SYTYCD, the better!
I'm glad they're finally doing auditions in Boston. Can't wait to watch next week!
And I was really happy to see that Amanda Kerby tried out again. I LOVED her audition from last season. I actually recorded that episode last year, and I still haven't deleted it.
And while I couldn't find a video of that audition, I did find the one from the first episode of season 6. She comes up about 20 seconds into the video. Unfortunately, they didn't show much of her audition this time around.

I agree it does seem pretty quick. But I don't mind. I do not really enjoy the auditions portion of this show as much as the actual competition, so I have not been as "tuned in" to it yet.
On another note, I noticed Kat Deely doing some announcing on the Emmy's last night. We love Kat at our house!

She's also the host of 20Q. While I find it hard to get into that show, I've been happy with what I've seen from Kat.

Is anyone watching this season? They are down to the top 10, announcing the top 8 tonight. I like Jakob and Legacy for the guys and Ashleigh and Mollee for the girls, although I think almost all of the top 10 are insanely talented. Nathan is doing what Karen did last week - he is riding on "star factor" but then got demoralized after some negative remarks. Now he's not that fun to watch anymore. Who are your favorites?

I feel like Ashley will be the Kayla of Season 6... except with talent. The judges have every right to drool over her dancing. I didn't think I'd like her at first, but I do now.
Eleanor is also one of my favorites. She's really different and seems to have a fun personality, which she showcases on stage.
I like that Legacy and Russell are in the top 10. While I don't know that either of them will win the whole thing, I think they bring something different to the show, and they give us a break from all of the contemporary dancing.
And I just have to say that I LOVE Travis' choreography. He is extremely talented.
I'm not sure how I feel about the new set, though. Sometimes, the lights and scenes in the background can be very distracting. It can make it really hard to see the details of some of the dances . And I miss the stairs!

I really dislike Mollee and Nathan...I'm not saying they don't have talent, but even when they clearly suck the judges kiss their behinds (which I hate).
I like Katharyn, Ellenore, Legacy, Russell, and Jakob. Ashleigh isn't one of my favorites, but she's come a LONG way since the auditions.
Last night was probably the best episode all season. The choreography was good and almost every number was performed well. Sonya's comtemporary kicked butt!

I keep missing the episodes where they dance, and only catch the ones where they get voted off. I want Mollee to leave too, and I have a feeling that Nathan will win even though he's definitely not the best dancer there.

Oh, I don't think Nathan will even come close to winning. If he does, it will be extremely disappointing, as he'll have beat out dancers that are MUCH better than him.
And Mollee is annoying.

I really wish Mollee had gone home last night instead of Noelle. I'm happy that Katharyn is still around though!
I'm going to go ahead and predict that hubby and wifey get kicked off together next week.

I just watched both of this week's episodes, and I'm not surprised at all by the results. If I had to predict the top 6 before Tuesday night's episode, I would have named everone who wasn't in the bottom 4 last night. I just don't think that Ryan, Nathan, Noelle and Kathryn are very memorable (as compared with the other contestants). Which is a shame, because I really like these two girls. I think that part of the problem is that they're so similiar (in appearance). Maybe with Noelle gone, Kathryn will be able to stand out.
However, after watching some of the dances from Tuesday, I think that Ashleigh will be in trouble if she doesn't step it up. Granted, the choreography in that hip hop routine was lacking, but like hubby, I don't think that her solos are that original, and I think she might find herself in trouble if the judges continue to praise Kathryn as they have.

Since I wasn't able to watch last night, I just caught up. I'm kind of glad that Nathan is gone. I'm also glad that Kathryn is still there, but I definitely agree that Ashleigh might be in trouble pretty soon. She's gotten a lot better though, which is good.

Did Ryan do the exact same solo routine as the night before? That is a bad sign if you don't have a couple of good solos lined up (even had the same music!) I think the right two people went home last night.
Any predictions for top guy and girl? My guess is Jakob and Mollee. However, Ashleigh and Ryan are both mormons, and usually mormon contestants have a huge fan base that votes on reality shows, so they may get farther than their talent vs. the other contestants.

He did. And now that the audience is voting without input from the judges, you'd think they'd have a little more fun with their solos.. at least on an elimination night when you know that it won't matter what you do anyway, because the votes are already in.
He definitely should have done something different.
