Ever since I was a small boy, I've been hearing a lot of different explanations as to why the chicken crossed the road. Some of them quite bizarre. The more I puzzle over this, the more I think that maybe the chicken and the road are metaphors. Does the chicken represent man and the road god? Anyone got a definitive answer?
