DSK, when did ribbons start?

Does anyone know when the DSKs started coming on colored ribbons as opposed to being on chains?

AFAIK, they never came on chains.

Chapter keys came in 3 versions originally: 24c gold, gold kase, and sterling silver. This was in 1948. Not sure when they came out on a ribbon as a proper "DSK". My data says this occured between 1954-66, but not sure when.

AFAIK, Nat-DSK was on a ribbon from day one of that award. As the Section, Region, and Nat-Alum DSKs came later, they probably all came on ribbons when they were rolled out.

These are when these keys came out:

Nat DSK- 1956
Section DSK- 1976
Regional DSK- do not know (regions established in 1967)
Nat Alum DSK- 1978
Local Alum Assoc DSK- 2008

Hmm.

OK, then maybe the ribbon broke on what's being sold on ebay.

OR it was removed from the ribbon.

OR this is a chapter key that the chapter (or the reciever) put on the tie clasp chain.

I have seen 'loose' Chapter DSKs/Keys appear on eBay. I got a sterling silver one late last year.

That's what the goofy chain is....
