A former employee of a Hyde Park-based black sorority filed a wrongful termination lawsuit today, claiming she was purposely humiliated and fired for not going along with the sorority president's improper spending of sorority funds.
The suit comes about three months after a lawsuit filed in Washington D.C. on behalf of sorority members claimed Alpha Kappa Alpha president Barbara McKinzie improperly spent thousands of dollars in sorority funds, including nearly $900,000 on a wax statue of herself.
