A few questions for the Kappas.
I've been checking this website out for a minute now, but I never thought I would need to post on here to ask a few questions. Hopefully, one of the Kappas here can answer my questions. This is kind of long, so bear with me. First off, I don't want to say which school I attend, because I don't know who's viewing this. However, I will tell you that I attend a black college and I'm starting my junior year this fall. I'm not sure how it is at other universities, but here freshman aren't allowed to pledge a social frat or sorority. Last year, as a sophomore, I went to the fall Kappa smoker, got to know some of the members, and I also had the grades required for membership. It seemed like when it was getting down to crunch time, they picked the potentials they wanted. I was one of them, or so I thought. It seemed like the guys that were picked with me, stopped telling me things. Like where they were meeting, and if I asked them if they met, they would say no. They all stuck together leaving me out. I knew they met, because one of the Kappas asked me where I was. I told him I didn't know we were supposed to get together. About a week later, all the Kappas started acting funny towards me, including the Kappa that asked me where I was. Well, a few months later, the guys that were picked up, with the exception of 4 (including me) crossed. I was disappointed because I knew some of those guys quite well. Then after they crossed I asked them to look out for me next year which is now this year. They changed though. They got arrogant and pretty much acted as though they didn't even know me anymore. I would speak when I would see them on the yard, and they would just raise their heads like "whussup". and keep on dippin. The Kappa I asked to put me down for next year, was the one I was pretty close to. He changed too. Before he was a Kappa, he never went to parties, never had any dates, never had any confidence in himself, and that was because a lot of girls weren't even attracted to him, he didn't even dress very nice, but when he made it in, he now wears namebrand clothes, keeps his appearance up to an extreme, I see him at parties and he now leaves the parties with groupies and so on. It's as though I don't even know who he is anymore. He was the total opposite before he made it in. His whole line is like that. What I don't understand is why I got black balled and if I did get black balled. I'm still interested, because I know I would make a good member. My whole purpose of joining Kappa Alpha Psi is not to be a pretty boy, or change my appearance or the way I dress. I'm already a nice looking guy and I've always dressed to impress. I want to work for the organization. I need some advice. How difficult will it be for me to get in from this point on. I go back to school in August, and I want to join now because I'm in my junior year. I'm a political science major, and I don't want pledge as a senior. I also would like to know why was I lied to because nobody will tell me anything, and are my chances shot now?
