Do all chapters use Recomendations?

Hi All,
I am really excited for recruitment this fall! The advice on this message board has been really helpful. I have been trying to obtain recs for all of the chapters at my school, and have been pretty successful. However, I do not know any alumni from Phi Sigma Sigma, and can't seem to find any information on their recommendation process. Does anyone know if Phi Sig uses recommendations? I know recs aren't required but I really want to maximize my options for recruitment this fall. Any info would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks!

I don't know if Phi Sigma Sigma uses recs because we don't have that one at my school, but I know my sorority rarely takes a girl without one. I would def try and get as many as possible for every sorority

I don't know if any NPC sorority as a whole doesn't have the option to accept recommendations. But whether or not specific chapters accept them and/or rely on them heavily during recruitment often depends on the campus culture and competitiveness of recruitment.

I have searched Google and found two chapter websites for Phi Sigma Sigma that say you don't need recommendations, but it doesn't specify if that only applies to those particular campuses.

You might want to post your question in the Phi Sigma Sigma forum as well, and hopefully a member will chime in soon.

Every NPC sorority has a procedure allowing an alumna (or, for some sororities, a collegian) to submit a recommendation for a PNM to the chapter at the school where the PNM will be participating in recruitment.

At some schools, recommendations are not necessary, but they show that you made the extra effort and you're taking recruitment seriously. At other schools, if you don't have a rec to a specific chapter, it's all but guaranteed that they won't invite you back. In either case, getting a rec is never wrong. As for exactly how a given chapter might factor a rec into their membership selection - that's privileged information.

If you don't personally know any alumnae for a specific sorority, try contacting your local Alumnae Panhellenic.

Good luck.

As said above, contact your local Alumnae Panhellenic. Most of the times, the APH's website will list the groups that are active in that chapter (very often an APH does not have all 26 groups represented). If PSS isn't listed, look around at websites of other APH chapters nearby for one that they are participating in. Or look at the APH near your school (if your school & hometown are far apart).

I hope this made sense, PM me if you're confused

Thank you all so much for responding. I will post my question on the phi sig forum- since my alumnae panhellenic dosen't have a phi sig representative, and there is no phi sig alumnae chapter in my area.
