Every NPC sorority has a procedure allowing an alumna (or, for some sororities, a collegian) to submit a recommendation for a PNM to the chapter at the school where the PNM will be participating in recruitment.
At some schools, recommendations are not necessary, but they show that you made the extra effort and you're taking recruitment seriously. At other schools, if you don't have a rec to a specific chapter, it's all but guaranteed that they won't invite you back. In either case, getting a rec is never wrong. As for exactly how a given chapter might factor a rec into their membership selection - that's privileged information.
If you don't personally know any alumnae for a specific sorority, try contacting your local Alumnae Panhellenic.
Good luck.
