PMing members about recommendation help?

I apologize in advanced if this has been asked before but I was just looking for some help. I have already gotten a few recommendation letter for my fall recruitment but am having some trouble finding letters for some of the houses I'm very interested in. I'm not sure how to PM someone (or if I even can yet since I've only been a member for a day) but I was wondering if any of you ladies could help me or point me in the right direction in finding someone to help write recs for my sister and I for the following sororities. Thanks so much! By reading posts on here I can tell you ladies are extremely kind and helpful to just about everybody and it means a lot to a newbie like me!

Thanks for all your help!

FYI: It is considered quite the faux pas to solicit recs here on GC (via PM or otherwise), I would suggest locating your local Alumnae Panhellenic if you are really having trouble.

If you are rushing at a bigger southern school, I'd suggest contacting them ASAP as you are cutting it close with some APH deadlines. There are some who don't help with recs after a certain date.

Ohhh I'm so sorry! I was just using the search engine and found a thread about ladies willing to help out with letters of recommendation so I just assumed it was acceptable. Sorry I'm new to all of this and not really sure what I'm doing.

Ok I've contacted a graduate chapter member of my sorority of interest via email and she never answered. She’s a counselor at my school so her phone number is listed online. Should I email again phone...is phoning kind of stalker-ish. She also comes of as very no nonsense and is kind of intimidating lol but she basically handpicked last semesters line because the org was suspended on our campus and just returned. If she doesn’t ever respond, I don’t really know any other graduate members in this particular org, what should I do?

It's ok.

That thread DOES have some info about people in your life that you can ask about recs, such as:

*teachers
*parents
*coaches
*church members
*friend's parents

You get the idea. It takes legwork, but you never know who you know who can help you.

If you're interested in an NPHC sorority, maybe you should check out their forum.

This thread has to do with NPC sorority recruitment recommendations.

Ok so say I've exhausted the resources you've mentioned above how do I go about contacting the local Alumnae Panhellenic? Do I just email the local association and ask for help. I don't want to offend anyone in the process so I was just wondering how to go about this best. Thanks!

There's usually an email for someone who is in charge of recruitment-related things. Or a general email for the AP. Even if you should happen to email the wrong person, they can probably point you to the right one.

Another option, check out the I/natl websites. Some provide listings with contact info for their alumnae associations.

Terms such as "line" and "MIP" kind of give it away, lol.

We do not use that terminology.

If the alumnae panhellenic in your area has a website with contact information on it then use that information to start. Not all alumnae panhellenics have a website and you will have to contact NPC headquarters in order to get that information. Also be prepared to answer why you want that information. NPC doesnt freely give out that information to just anyone.

You will need to take into consideration that not all alumnae members check email as frequently as younger/chapter members do. It is also July and the middle of summer. Alumnae are also busy with their own travel plans and maybe children/grandchildren. Delays in contact are not uncommon during this time.

I emailed her the beginning of winter semester 09. She never responded and I wasn't sure what to do. I feel lame for letting the whole process make me so nervous...smh, i completely understand where nervousnelly is coming from
