Our official rush week doesnt begin for about a month or so, but we've been very active this summer. We've had a kiosk in the middle of our student union building advertising the fraternity during orientation (duly cleared with the on campus Greek Life advisor), and are massively gearing up for the freshman move in. We plan to have some guys help move people in, and other distribute water and free stuff to those asking.

We're hoping to gear up for a big rush, which for us should be 15-20 guys. Wish us luck!

Rush is coming up for men all over the country. Have you guys started yet? My chapter has not really and it disappoints me. I am alumni now and can't really help them out too much. When school started when i was in school we met guys by helping them move in the dorms and throwing parties. This year my chpater has done nothing. And our chpater isn't the biggest either. Probably around 35 guys. Don't foregt men rush is 24-7 365 days a year. I you get on the ball TKE will remain the best. If people are slack on rush chapters will die and TKE will get smaller. Don't let that happen.!!

Ideas that we do are stuff of like pool and shuffle board night, football/basketball watching (we rent out a section of a bar/grll restaurant and have a big screen for us. formal smoker night we have cigars passed out to everyone and we put on our slideshow that we made to give rushee's a better understanding of tke and of our chapter. During rush week, we have a table out in the quad with other fraternities and we put out our flag and pocket sized cards of our rush schedule on them. Other ideas we've had in the past are things like golf playing (every member teams up with a rushee), bowling night, or skeet shooting

He will and can. Just a word to the wise, your chapter better be able to go along with everything he says or he won't be to happy.
He is not very selective either. If you are a guy in college and you want to join he will sign you up. Great guy with great ideas. You will have fun with him around.

You probably have some friends/acquaintances in class that would make a good addition to your chapter.

Invite him to hang out w/the guys. Have fun.

I think our colony has pretty much gotten our rush schedule and stuff set up for next semester. We really have to have a good fall rush since we sort of dropped the ball back at the beginning of the semester.

We decided to set up and help the freshman move in, also decided to set up in front of one of the freshman girl dorms in hopes getting them to hopefully send some of their friends our way...and plus it never hurts to have more girls around

Buckwheat, wow i seen that guy's ad in practically every TEKE magazine...I've heard he actually helps out alot, hopefully he can make the chapter he helps grow stronger. But just a peice of advice, watch out who you take, know their backgrounds a lil..Because in 2000 my university snuck a cop into ours, during his pledging his true identity was found out, and the brothers at that time gave him the boot.

Ya I got Initated at University of Toledo before I transfered to Kent State when he came to the Gamma-Nu chapter he got us to rush 10 guys we could have used him again though since the chapter is inactive now but my big told me what to do when he came so were gonna take advantage of everything he has to offer

Try a pig roast. Thats always popular because no one really does it. It's also cheap if you live in a rural area.

Try to get the mailing list of all the new freshman from the school also. Make a little ad type thing that has all the numbers of the local delivery places. At the top have a box that says in big letters "HEY FRESHMAN! PUT THIS ON YOUR DOOR. YOU'LL WANT IT LATER" or something to that effect. Then have a little box at the bottom saying something like "brought to you by the gentalmen of tau kappa epsilon" with your chapter website or phone number. Then everytime they walk out the door they will see TKE.

Lastly, make good use of Facebook if your campus is on it. Every freshman that joins one of your groups message them and tell them a few attractive things that have to do with them...
(ex. if its a sports group let them know all the intermurals your chapter is involved in. if its academic tell them about your chapters gpa compared to the others on campus. if its some kind of drinking/party group...you get the idea)
You will get a lot of guys to show up to your events this way then you can pick and choose the quality guys. For spring rush we had almost 30 guys interview and we gave out 8 bids...and thats still the biggest rush class on campus. With that many people interested you get to pick out the very best.
