Question Que or Nupe??

Hey watzz goody...

well this comming fall i will be enrolling in to a college where i would spend the rest of my 4 years...ive given a thought to pledging a frat, but im having some questions...about what frat to pledge, i kno that this should be the last thing on my mind but hey, i need to get it off my chest.

My dad, a few close friends, and a few family members are Que's, but for some reason, i feel like i wont be accepted as a traditional que. I am a preety boy...some girls that i kno (sorors) told me i look more like a kappa...can some one tell me...should i keep the legacy, or pledge something else???

To be brutally honest with you, at this point in your young life you should not become Greek--period. To make a serious commitment which is life-long and to a chosen fraternity means to make it, ideally, in a mature manner. To relate why one chooses a particular group to a simple stereotype, which one tries to relate to one's suitability according to some superficial characteristic, is not worthy of any organization. Speaking as one who does not fit the so-called Que stereotype, after I pledged almost 30 years ago, I had an experience of reflecting on what Omega is really about: Christian manhood and friendship. It's a beautiful thing!!!! In its own way, Omega is a very diverse organization but it's not for everyone, just for men, men with gravitas.

If you aspire to be a man, make intelligent, soul-searching choices on the basis of truth and sincerity. To become an Omega (or whatever) is a privilege not a right. The real question you should be asking is this: Am I the same caliber of person as the men in my family who are Brothers of Omega Psi Phi, Ques, Sons of Blood and Thunder? Maybe some other fraternity will be your default fraternity once you do some soul searching. Your daddy, uncle, brother, etc. will not make those "burning sands" any cooler for you if you aspire to become an Omega man.

I totally agree with Wolfman. Get your foot in the door of your university, settle in and make good grades. Do your research. Yes, it is true that people sometimes associate looks with certain fraternities and even sororities, but you should not be making your decision based on what others tell you that you look like or would fit. This, in my opinion is some of the problem. People are not doing their research about BGLOs. Know the history of these organization that you want to join. As previously posted, do some soul searching. No offense to you, just trying to offer some real advice.

You should learn how to spell "pretty", if you're having trouble with that, pledging ANY fraternity should be the furthest thing from your mind.
