May I Have Some Advice Please?
Hi ladies! Sorry to invade your board, but I had a question I am hoping one of you can help me with.
A good friend of mine is a Chi Omega alumna and she is having a 4th birthday party for her daughter. I found a cute "Future Chi Omega" t-shirt at Greekgear.com that I plan to get the little girl as a present and something else caught my eye as well. They sell these little beanie babies in the shape of whichever sorority's mascot with the letters embroidered on it. They are really quite cute but I wanted to check with you before I ordered one.
I guess my question is: is it against your rules for me to buy something with the greek letters Chi Omega on it as a gift and if so, is my friend's daughter technically allowed to own anything with the letters on it? The last thing I want to do is to offend my friend in any way so I'm taking my question to the experts!
Thanks so much for any help you can give me!

I am pretty sure it's okay to buy the shirt for your friend's daughter. We have a magazine called Chi O Creations and it has shirts for little girls. One I bought for my niece said, "A Chi Omega Loves Me!!" I think your gift would be perfect!

Thanks for replying and so quickly! I thought the shirt would probably be okay because the letters were "written out" but it was the beanie baby owl with the letters on it I was worried about. I just wasn't sure what your policy was about people not affiliated with the fraternity buying/possessing items with the greek letters Chi Omega on them?
Fraternally,
Tracy

KillarnyRose,
You'll have to let us know how she likes it. What a neat idea.
I know the official rule is that a non-initiated member may not wear the crest or badge. But our letters are okay. If that makes sense.

Hello Ladies! I just wanted you all know that I went to my friend's daughter's 4th birthday party and I ended up getting her the "Future Chi Omega" T shirt I mentioned, a little necklace I made with red and gold beads and an owl charm and a throw pillow I sewed for her bed that has the greek letters Chi Omega appliqued on it with the her name embroidered under the letters.
Happily, my friend was really touched by the gifts! But the best part was the little girl's reaction.
Her grandmother said to her, "What did Miss Tracy get you?" and little Maggie held up the pillow and said "Miss Tracy got me this because I am a Chi-O weggacy." Of course, the adults thought this was adorable and we were all laughing at this when Maggie stomped her little foot down and scowled at us and said, "Don't you laugh at my Chi-O!"
Just wanted to relate this to you so you can rest assured that the future of your fraternity is in some very capable hands!

Well get this!!! The Chi O that Tracy was buying the gift for turns out to be my sorority sister at Indiana State!!!! Tracy saw I went there and asked me I knew her friend the XO- not only did I know her but I lived next door to her our freshman year! So- it is a really small world!

What a cute story!!!! My little girl would pronounce "legacy" exactly the way Maggie did!!!! My Paige is turning 3 on November 6 and I can't wait to take her to Homecoming and show her off in her Chi O letters. I want her to go where her heart tells her to when the time comes, but I hope and pray that her heart leads her where mine did. She's a spunky little thing and soooo beautiful....my fellow Hooties from MSN can vouch for that!!!! I also have a darling little Delt legacy, one year old, who has a family tradition to follow...his daddy, grandpa, and great-uncle were all Delts (although his uncle is a Sigma Chi.....)
