Giving letters
I know this may seem kind of silly, but I'm a little confused...my boyfriend REALLY wants to wear my letters. Specifically my lavaliere. When my sister got a "Fiji" lavaliere from her boyfriend, it was a big deal to our chapter. I tried to explain this to my boy (who's not Greek), but I think that he simply sees it as just another neclace. I wear one of his, so I guess he only sees it as fair. Can girls even give lavalieres to their boyfriends??? I'm so confused.

IF you lavaliere him. I do not know if every chapter does this, but I know some have ceremonies. Most people only lavaliere if they are going to get married. It represents a pre-engagement. Girls can lavaliere and so can guys. It is a VERY big deal. My boyfriend is greek also and I would never think to wear his letters unless I was lavaliered because it shows respect and they are his letters, not mine. We go through a lot to earn our letters.

Pardon my crash, I believe xilovetrish's advice is rather erroneous. This thread ( http://www.greekchat.com/gcforums/sh...ad.php?t=99988) is about girls lavaliering girlfriends but the advice KSUViolet and others give would probably apply to this situation as well.

she was talking about her boyfriend, not her girlfriend, so I told her what goes on at our chapter and the rest of the greek organizations at my school. She didn't say anything about girl/girl, guy/guy, else I could have referred her to the same link you did. I was just sharing what I know

In my greek community (and many others as referenced by the thread) it is unheard of for girls to lavaliere non-greek boyfriends. Furthermore, some posters in that thread talk about this situation. So I am also just sharing what I know...
To the OP, you should probably just check with Alpha Xi Delta Headquarters on this one, since its not a common question it probably deserves more than a simple answer.

The OP asked this question 8 years ago. I doubt she cares anymore.

Haha, I should have checked to see the date. In that case to xilovetrish, she definitely could care less...

We don't even have an active chapter in Oregon anymore, so I thought maybe the OP was an imposter, then I noticed the date. Nothing like bringing an old post back from the dead.
