Recruitment Ideas help
Hi everyone,
I'm part of the Psi Upsilon Fraternity at Keene State College and we're currently going through Rush Week. Our past week hasn't been that great, we decorated glasses, and then did a pictionary night. Last night we did a Tye-Dye event and needless to say our turn out wasn't good. Granted it seems that all organizations on campus aren't doing that well either with maybe some exceptions here and there. The only even we have left for Wednesday is a Poker Tournament, plus we're announcing to have dinner Today and Thursday in the Dining Area with whomever wants to join us. Besides this, we can't think of what else to do to bring more people in. Does anyone have any other ideas??? Anything would be appreciated. Thank you.

First of all, it’s great to hear from someone in NH (I grew up there). I do know a little about Keene State, as I am friends with many people who attended the college. From what I understand, Greek Life is not looked at in a very positive light. And if it’s true that all of the organizations are having difficulty gaining members right now, you’re going to have an especially hard time with it. But that doesn’t mean you should give up! My very small chapter, to which I am now an advisor, just gained 9 new members this fall through all of their hard work. Read my recruitment story, and silverpearls’ also. They're very different in size and systems, but both have very positive recruitment outcomes:

And read these threads about how to recruit:

If you have any questions, feel free to PM me

Recruitment
Deep six the tie dye, glass decorating, and Pictionary. I would run from these events if I were rushing at Keene State.
You need to look at building on the Poker Night. Try soccer or basketball in the snow, skiing, cigar night, cook out, paint ball, laser tag, etc. Do activities that get the adrenaline pumping. Have a casino night with fake money. Allow the Rushees to take their winnings from the night and let them cash out for prizes. Offer a "book scholarship" ($100 to $200) to pay for books for the semester given out to a prospective at one of your events. Get the sororities to help you with rush. Design rush t-shirts and give them to the ladies to wear. Have a sorority help you at your events.
Advertise for leaders. You are a colony and this would be a natural fit. Come up with new slogans for Rush. With a fraternity name like Psi Upsilon this would be very easy. "Put the U in Psi U" or "we all need a little Psi U" these are corny but you get the jist of where this is going.
Tye dye and glass decorating! Yikes!

Thank you for the ideas so far! I guess I did forget to mention that we are a Co-ed chapter, plus we aren't exactly new to the campus. We were a local organization on campus for 23 years.
Some of those are really good ideas - plus great stories, that I've already started to share with my brothers. Hopefully tomorrow's poker and Thursday's dinner in the dining area will work out. I heard that today's was quite successful so there is hope. Thank you again for the ideas.
