Talking Nah

[FONT=century gothic][COLOR=indigo]ESPECIALLY if it's going to be an important phone call, or a messy one, I jot down the talking points.

I might do that in a business type call, but usually not a social interaction . . . although don't we all have mental dialogues about different situations?

In a social call, I can usally tell if the girl is following a script, so I'll almost always interrupt it and lead the conversation in different dirrections and prevent all the points from being reached.

Why? Because thats more like talking at me than to me. If you want to write it down, email me it. Not a heck a lot of difference.

Lightbulb

I do this in ALL social situations, important or not. If I don't, my mind will go blank and I can't think of ANYTHING on the spot to say.

I wanted to know if it was usual.

Don't worry , you so aren't the only one who does that. I do it a lot especially if I am mad or something or If I am on a mission , cause then if I don't I sound or write all jumbled and rarely make sense :P or my mind goes blank and I sit there like "DUH"
For instance this summer or the beginning part this guy I knew wrote me a really dumb email and it made me so mad, I wrote out the whole email before hand spelled check it like 50times and then finally sent it.

Ok revisiting this . . .

Mental rehearsal is probably not only usual, but the norm . . . However, what people are describing here goes a bit beyond rehearsal into the realm of written preparation. And we are talking about all the time . . . I imagine that depends on your personality . . .

I would wonder if there might be a gender component to this? Almost none of my male friends have admitted to doing this, but several of my female friends have . . .

I do this whenever I go in to talk to the boss. It helps me stay on topic, so I don't wander from the purpose of the meeting, and it makes sure I don't get nervous and forget something.

haha you're definitly not. I always find myself rehearsing important conversations before I have them. Wether it be with a special guy *I dont knowwhy but I am always shy around guys whom I really care about, but Im never really shy* or wether it be a very important talk with someone.but yeah I do it all the time.

This is a weird topic...so are those ppl that we see talking to themselves preparing for a conversation later on.

I think ya' guys do it too, but just don't admit it!

Are you talking about everything you do or just for making phone calls? I can see the latter because a lot of ppl aren't good at talking on the phone. But honestly, if you're doing this for small things, like for example what you're gonna respond to if the clerk at macdonalds asks 'if you want fries with that?', and you need to consult some kind of notebook - i'd say that ain't normal.
