Suggestions for steam/spot vacuums?

I was just about to buy a Hoover Steamvac Spot when I found tons of bad reviews. Can anyone here offer some suggestions on what brand to buy?

I'm looking for something lightweight that will steam clean area rugs and hard surfaces. I don't have carpet so I'm not looking for anything too heavy duty.

Any suggestions appreciated!
