Another Retro Recruitment Story
I dug up my old recruitment booklet and thought it was about time to post my retro recruitment story. I hope you all enjoy.
I decided to name the chapters after cities. They were:
Seattle
Munich
Boston
San Francisco
New York
Paris
London
Barcelona
Shanghai
Orlando
Ice Water Open House Round:
The first day, we met our Pi Chis before we started the open house round. The first house I visited was Boston. I talked to three girls and had some good conversations, but didn't really click with any of them and felt pretty awkward with the third girl. They were all very nice and I left feeling good about this house.
Next, I went to Barcelona. I loved this house immediately and felt so at home there! The girls I talked to were genuine and very friendly. We talked about all different topics, not just rush and school, and I loved talking to all three of them. I could really see this house as my future home!
After Barcelona, I went to Paris. The house was extraordinarily beautiful, and the three girls I talked to were nice, but I didn't find I had much in common with them.
Next I went to Shanghai. I really loved this house, and I was lucky enough to get to talk to four girls! My first conversation was sort of awkward (I think we were both a little bit nervous--she told me it was her first time through recruitment as an active) but the others flowed a lot better. I felt very connected to this diverse group of girls and thought it would be a great fit.
After a break, I went to San Francisco. I was really excited about this house since I already knew some girls in it, so I was looking forward to the open house. I got to talk to four girls here as well, and I had so much in common with them! They had a lot of activities that interested me and I really liked this house.
After San Francisco, I visited Orlando. I was nervous about this house because they are known to be more selective than other sororities on campus and the girls tend to be very similar. I was presently surprised, and loved the three girls I talked to. They were all friendly, down-to-earth, and I had a lot in common with them. This house seemed like it could be my place!
Next I went to Seattle. I did not feel very comfortable at this house. They are a small chapter, so I was double-rushed the entire time and only got the chance to meet one girl. I felt like I was supporting most of the conversation and just didn't feel a good fit here.
Next, I got to visit Munich, where I was a legacy. So obviously, I was really excited to visit this house! I got to talk with four girls, about all different topics, and they were all very nice. For some reason though, I didn't feel quite right about this house. I wanted to be fair and give it another chance, though, especially since I was a legacy. We'll see what happens there!
After Munich, I visited London. The girls were friendly and the house was beautiful, but my conversations didn't leave much of an impression on me. I was really interested in their philanthropy, however, and wanted to give this house a second chance.
The last house I visited was New York. At this point I was very tired, so I'm afraid I might have unintentionally yawned a couple of times here! I really loved these girls, and got to talk to them a lot about their community service and philanthropy activities. The girls I talked to were so sweet and genuine and I loved this house!
At the end of the day, we ranked our bottom two houses(we could be invited back to a maximum of eight houses). My ranking looked like this (we didn't have to, but I ranked my top eight).
1. Shanghai
2. Munich my legacy chapter
3. San Francisco
4. New York
5. Barcelona
6. Orlando
7. Boston
8. London
Bottom Two
1. Seattle
2. Paris
The next round is house tours, and I will try to update soon!
